Release switch? Tiny little tab on the side that lets the slide rack when one is in the chamber unfired.

Lol you guys really put a ton of thought into this. Sorry, if I were really going to rely on a weapon to defend my life/family members life/property I would want that weapon ready to go without thinking about racking it, a release switch, chambering a round, etc.

Weapon in hand, ready to go and with the safety off it will go bang without any other theatrics.

Round in chamber, that simple. Also have a light, I bet 90 lumens out of nowhere in the face is enough to at least stun them, and blind them for a little bit.

That was Craig's point. That you could leave a round chambered, and if you stupidly felt the need to warn the criminal, you could dump the chambered round while "racking" the slide.

yeah, but Craig didn't come out and call people stupid for doing so... therefore the stupid people couldn't grasp what he was saying

The only warning I'm giving is that 1st "warning shot" fired at them. Followed by 9 quickly thereafter

Why take away from the mechanics of what may very well save your life? If you have the advantage of surprising an intruder then by all means keep your weapon on the intruder and say, "Hi there! Do you feel like dying?"

Sometimes I forget if I chamber and have a weapon on safe so both the intruder and I can be surprised. Might as well make it fun if you're going to rock n roll.

i leave my shotgun completely empty but have 5 rounds on the side saddle, and top saddle.

if i have enough time i wear a bandolier.

I agree wholeheartedly. I was just pointing that out for those who were so adamant about "racking" it.

See above. I was making no commentary on which I agreed with. I was directing it to those that like to keep it unchambered so they could rack it; suggesting that they can keep a round chambered in case they don't have time to rack it and need to shoot immediately, but still can rack it when they "have more time".

I generally disagree with not having a round chambered, particularly when the only reason you are doing so is so that you can attempt to scare the intruder. There are reasons for which I would agree with not leaving a round chambered, but they are the exceptions imo.
