I've been thinking about picking up a gun to hang on for a while for an investement. I've been looking around and stumbled across this one. First of all, I don't know wether or not it's really a good idea to "invest" in a gun. But it wouldn't be shot, would just be taken out and wiped down. I'd hang onto the box and all paperwork. Just basically keep it mint for 20 or 30 years before I thought about getting rid of it. Let me know what you guys think.

You ONLY buy firearms they do NOT make anymore. Example, Winchester Model 94, At one point, they were selling for under 200 dollars. Now you can't really touch one unless you fork over around 500+ dollars. Reason: Winchester doesn't make it anymore.
Back in the day, you could buy M1 Garands for 75 dollars a gun. Today, its 500+. Hell, M1 Carbines just went through the same thing. I remember when they were 100 dollar guns, and today, you can't touch a USGI one for under 800 dollars it seems.
In my personal opinion, if you want a "Investment gun" that's a Henry, go out and buy a REAL Henry Model 1860 (I mean the real deal, made and used during the Civil War.
If you want an easy collectable firearm, go out and look at world war 2 guns. Especially Nazi Germany guns (Make sure they swastika is still on it, with all numbers matching). Those guns seem to be exploding in value now. Hell a freaking German Luger can go for 2500 dollars now.

IMO, if the gun is currently being produced, then it isn't a great investment.
The best investment guns are machine guns because they are guaranteed to go up in value. It would literally take an act of congress to devalue them. The way I look at it is buy one and have fun with it, and you can always sell it for at least what you have in it. They do typically go up about 4-6% a year in value.
Other guns I would look at would be pre ban HK stuff (due to nothing but personal preference) and documented war relics. A real WWII bring back Luger with papers will hold its value for a long time, and is a very liquid asset. There are tons of Luger collectors out there, and the same goes for old 1911s.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.

You guys are all saying things that I figured. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't talking myself out of something good. I'd really like to have an M1 that was documented to be in Germany or the Pacific during the war. BTW, is there anyway to find out easily per serial number if it was in either on of those theaters?04 2.6 KB'd Cobra!

Best time to buy them is during a recession. Same goes for hot rods and stocks.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Regardless, I would advise anyone who is interested to buy one. They sure as hell won't get too much cheaper.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.
