  • Is there something wrong with me? CC a .38 revolver and liked it!

After my dad passed away earlier this year I inherited his firearms (he only had a couple) including a Taurus M85 polished snubby with a 2" ported barrel that I bought for him 7 or so years ago when he could no longer rack the slide on a 1911 I had bought for him for his birthday.

I've always considered the 9mm and .38 Special the minimum calibers I would consider for defensive purposes. I've shot the little snubby a number of times at the range and I'm confident with shooting it but never considered carrying because I had better options (namely my Glock 27). Since selling my 27 I've been carrying the snubby as it's lighter in weight and I'm not worried about ruining the finish on it while working out in the yard and sweating all over it.

So I'm really digging the revolver and it really has me rethinking why I didn't carry them before. It conceals easily even with the POS nylon holster I found at home and I'm confident with the ammo I'm using and my ability to hit what I'm shooting at within a reasonable distance. I liked it so much I carried it with me when I went to Houston this past weekend. I really need to pick up a quality holster (still looking) and practice reloading quickly and under pressure.

Anyone else pack a revolver concealed carry?

99% of the battle. Israeli special forces uses .22's! Back in the 80's they stormed a hijacked airplane with Beretta 22's and killed all of the terrorists!
The ability to put a bullet on target is most important.
Ask any of these combat vets on the board. Having a 50cal means nothing if you can't deliver the goods.

Ruger Sp-101 ss .357 for me. Or a Beretta .380

i dont currently carry one but i plan to pick one up soon as my main carry.

my clothes are normally fairly form fitting, so a gun i can carry in my boot easily is great.

Yup, 99% of the battle And having some good defensive ammo doesn't hurt either, in this case Winchester PDX. Some quick pictures. Taurus M85 2" Ported Barrel.

Those rounds look like they'd do some nasty damage inside a person.

I've got a nickel plated .38 with a 1" barrel that I carry from time to time. They do conceal easily and that's mainly why I like them. Don't care for the sonic boom when I fire it though...

                      I've carried a revolver since 1992. My daily CCW is a S&W 642.
Oh, and there is nothing wrong with you, you're all growd up!

I see nothing wrong with it. Revolvers work.
