I recently shot my friend's .450 Marlin lever action. Very light rifle with no recoil pad and it was very unpleasant to shoot. 10 shots was all I could take before I said uncle.

After that, it's all icing on the cake. You should get a nice bolt action though w/ scope and play with that for awhile too. They can be fun to shoot too, especially at a little longer distances.

So far my small modest start has been an old Marlin/Glenfield .22lr I got when I was 13 and my old Savage Stevens model 94 single shot break over 12 gauge. I also have my complete AR-15 lower that I need to finish too. Then I'll buy a CCW weapon and get my CHL.

Shooting is a blast! I took my sons out a couple of weeks ago for their first shooting experience and they loved it. Now all they talk about is when can we go shoot turtles at grandmas house again!

Lol...Before you know it you'll be hunting animals and putting GOOD meat in the freezer. Much better than that processed/chemical bull crap.

Not likely to happen. First of all, I don't have the patience for hunting. I've been a couple of times and I was bored out of my mind. Besides, hunting isn't a sport. Give the animals weapons so they can shoot back, then it's a sport, otherwise it's just killing stuff. Haha.

              Disappointed there's no pics.

              Congrats on your first shoot!

I'll skip the bows part, but there are plenty of hogs to go around down here in FL. Cant wait to get a weekend off and take the Marlin out to find a few

If it's not sporting enough for you then you should stalk them barehanded and arm bar them bitches!

                    Good times for sure.
Being Steves first time, I kept all of the larger cal. weapons in the safe. He did have some natural shooting abilities.

That .40 is S&W. Tiny little frame for CC. It doesn't fit my hand well either, hence the reason it is not mine.

                    Weapon list from the weekend:

                    Remington 1100 12.ga
                    Remington 870 12.ga with holo-sight
                    Benelli Nova 12ga.
                    Ruger 10/22T VQ
                    Ruger MKii Target
                    Marlin 17hmr
                    Winchester lever action .22
                    S&W .40
                    Glock 23
                    SKS
                    Remington 30.06
                    Mossberg Maverick 12ga.
                    Marlin lever action .22

Try hunting wild boars with dogs. Then wrestle that nasty SOB and stick it with a knife. That may be up your alley steve. Give me a shout and I'll take you one evening this fall.

Wish I knew someone with trained dogs, take them out next time we go hunting.
