Was pretty cool

Well fuck. I never bought this gun because I lost the impulse I had to buy it ovedr the waiting period but then 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted to buy one again and went to bass pro shops and this time I walked out with it.
Well, yesterday I bought an ar-15 lower to pair with a used upper I found and got delayed again....
Is it possible I got delayed since I just bought a gun roughly 12 days ago?
I already paid for this one so I won't be "losing interest" though

Delayed from cheaper than dirt yesterday...
I agree that its weird. Its also frustrating. A chl would fix this though

Never had a delay and made my first CHL purchase at CTD a couple weeks ago for my new bolt gun project.
I take that back. I was delayed at CTD on a handgun about 5 years ago but only becuase NCIC was down. I left my cell number and got a call 5 minutes after I left. I rushed back and was on may way with my new gun in a few short minutes.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

The difference is location of purchase
When a NICS check is called in it is called to a branch of the FBI they do a local name/social search on you as well as a criminal background search. The criminal background search is the quick one as it is a list of offenders either felony or misdemeanor for fam violence or domestic. the one that takes longer is the local search. What they are checking is pending cases or arrests. If you have a social or name similar to someone in the same county that has a pending case for something that would possibly take away your freedoms you will be delayed to determine if the offender and you are the same person. What happens when a 4473 is called in is this the sales person reads off the information you provided to the clerk at the FBI. They type the info in name DOB place of birth height weight race state and country of residence and type of weapon purchased. They do their search and either proceed or further review the call. If it goes to further review it gets transferred to a senior clerk who reviews the info. they either proceed, delay, or deny the call. Delays to the Fed are 3 buisness days not including the day called in, weekends or holidays. (call it in on monday you can pick it up friday with no call back) A lot of the big chain stores have adopted the policy that there is no transfer until the FBI calls back with a proceed. My guess is that the CTD and academy are in different counties than Bass pro and someone with either a similar social or name f'd up and your being delayed due to it. Prolly more info than wanted but there it is anyhow

It's all done on the computer now. There is no phone call...
Enter the info into the NICS search as it appears on the 4473. Wait a couple minutes and retrieve the info. NICS will give a Proceed, Delay, or Deny response. If they get a Delay, they cannot release the firearm until they receive a Proceed from NICS, unless they want a federal offense on their record. Every time they search through NICS it shows any searches that are pending/delayed from that store. It can take 30 days or more for the search to come back with a proceed or deny response. Once the Proceed or Deny is given, the store will call you and let you know.
If the person being searched has a really bad history, NICS may even call the store. Had this happen 1 time. Put info into NICS, 30 seconds later, phone rings and it's NICS/FBI stating under no circumstance do we sell that individual a firearm. Just goes to show you, that even though it is all web-based now, there is still someone on the other end looking at every single search that is done."Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776
