Misdemeanors do not prevent you from being able to purchase a firearm. Sometimes people who have very common names have issues with the NICS.

As long as you are legally able to possess a gun, I would recommend looking at used guns. You can get a much better deal and you won't have to deal with ANY paperwork.

www.texasguntrader.com has lots of guns, and if you are patient you can find some good deals once in a while. The vast majority of listings are overpriced, IMO.

Also check out the for sale forum at www.texaschlforum.com, there are some great deals on there.

several years ago I tried to purchase a .30-30 at a wal-mart near Nacogdoches on a Saturday and had the same issue. They called me after about 3 hours and said it was all good so I went back and picked up the rifle and some ammo. They said the background check can get really slow on the weekends.

First of all, this should be in The Armory. Secondly, did you put your social security # on the form? If you are clean, that will usually get it to go right through. If you did and it still didn't, you're ridin dirty...in some way.

I can already tell you what it's about. The lower group buy had two ATF agents show up at my job looking for me. I had one of there business card's wedged in my door at home I called they never answered. Apparently they audited the FFL dealer and are going down the list of our group buyers. If anyone bought more than four they will probably be getting a call/visit.

Buying a firearm through the gun show loop hole when you are already aware that you will not pass a NICS is a Felony I believe. Buyer and Seller can get hammered. I have a name and number to the ATF if you want to call and ask.

I would never advocate breaking any laws, but I never said anything about a gun show.

Face to face sales by private individuals are completely lawful and discreet, just as they should be.
