  • 9mm Ar-15

Besides being a cheaper and fun plinker, is their any practical use for a 9mm AR? Just curious, seems like .223 would always be the better choice.

I think a 22 variant would make a better plinker. Otherwise it is a 9mm rifle. Hell, aren't 9mm rounds more expensive?

I was about to say, that they are the same price for .223 or 5.56

Cheapest 5.56 Ive found is wolf ammo 20 rds for $4 and 9mm is 50 rds for $10

        It is the same thing.

9mm ARs are really neat guns. They are very fun to shoot and make for some of the coolest SBRs and machine guns that I have ever shot.

I have shot a Colt 9mm SMG and it was more fun to shoot and easier to handle than an mp5. Also, I know a guy with a 9mm AR sbr with a quad rail that extends beyond the barrel and his suppressor screws onto the barrel and sits nicely inside his rail setup.

It is one quiet son of a bitch.

I wanted to buy a 9mm get up for my m16, but everyone says they give your gun a beating etc.

I can't see how they'd be hard on your lower. All the violence would be in the upper.

I think the same. But I've talked to a bunch of folks who all say to have a 9mm dedicated gun abd then an everything else gun.

About two years ago Winchester had a Colt 11.5" 9mm full auto M4 with fixed carry handle. After talking to one of the guys up there he let me take it for a spin. I put 60 rounds through it. What a fun gun but my wife would not tolerate a $12,000 purchase.

the only pratical usage I can think of is - ENTRY
can be suppressed, and 9mm offers little overpenetration if you are a pro entry person.
                            pretty important in those situations
