  • Trying to find a 1911

I really want to get a 1911 now and want to find one that is pretty basic. I don't wanna spend a fortune, but don't want a junker like Para or something. I have been looking closely at a Colt o1911 or o1918 repro, or just a 70 series. Anything in particular I should look for and any idea what I should expect to spend on one in good condition? Ive seen such a wide variety in price, its hard to distinguish what is worth it and just the ones that people have become attached to and set too high of a price due to lack of motivation to sell.

I'd just run on down to a gun show, but the ones around this part of Florida suck, so I'm mostly stuck looking online

There isn't a Model 70. There's a 70 series. They're super nice, but be prepared to spend some coin for a good one. One of the guns on my list is a NIB 70 Series LW Combat Commander in 9mm. Unfortunately, even though Colt made a lot of them, they quit making them a long time ago, so they're about $1200 minimum right now on gunbroker. I could always sell some other guns to buy one, but I'm trying to get out of that habit.

Whoops, fixed. I honestly have only been looking at the O1911 and the O1918 because damn that carbonia blue looks awesome, but the black is damn nice too. I just added the 70 recently due to my lack of luck finding one at a decent price. I have basically ruled out an original O1911 since they seem to be going for outrageous prices, so repro is probably my best route. If I did go for the 70, it would just be a Gov't model. Like I said, plain and simple

Checking Gunbroker just now, they're already at $1750. I'll just save a few more pennies and get a damn WC commander-equivalent.

Which ones? I was checking out the O1911ANVIII which is the 70 Series with the O1918 finish and similar rollmarkings, they are going for right around $1000 brand new

Ruger SR1911. No Frills basic 1911 with excellent reviews and 100% American Made Parts!

My only grievance with Ruger. I love their 10/22 though.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

The only good thing about their 10/22 is all of the stuff that other people make for it.

And FWIW: The only SR1911 I've put my hands on had loose barrel lockup and sloppy slide/frame. It felt just like a Kimber!

They make a 25 round magazine for the 10/22 now, so it would seem that you are right.

They also still warranty their AC556.

Not to mention they make an AR style rifle with 30 round mags...
