Hell, get an SKS with the conversion for the 30 round mags. I bought one last month and cleaned all the cosmolene off it, stripped and sanded the stock and put on 7 coats of urethane. Shot it sunday. Fun and could use up all the 7.62 ammo I have. It was $324 at Freedom firearms down in Brehnam. Granted I spent $30 in cleaner to get it all cleaned up and mags are $30 ea, but not bad. I just now need to figure out why the mag tries to "cross up" the double stack which in turn causes feed issue.

Heavy gun, very accurate. I put a rail mount on it for $13...just need scope. It also has option to turn off gas tube.

Hell, I might take $500 for the gun, 3 mags and about 700 rounds of ammo if you want to drive to College Station to pick it up. I might also be in Dallas week of 7/18 for work and can deliver.

I would never pay the asking price for SKS rifles these days. They were giving those things away 10 years ago.

At today's prices, why would you buy an SKS when you could buy a Saiga at the same price? The Saigas are the highest quality semi auto AK on the market IMO, as all parts are made in Russia at the same factory rather than being some sort of half US half dumbfuckistan hack job.

Sure, the Saigas don't look as mall ninja, but they are reasonably accurate (for an AK type weapon). If you just have to have a semi automatic only AK, I would recommend the Saigas for sure. The prices on them are about $350 I believe.

Get a Polish Tantal sporter. 5.45x39 is cheap and this thing is as accurate as my AR @ 100yrds. Surprised the shit out of me. I put on a MI universal rail, cheap primary arms microdot, and this thing is great.

I love how improving on a dated sight design is considered "tacticool". AK sights suck ass. I'm pretty sure we all agree on this. I enjoy a railed grip on AKs. A purist I am not. You should shoot it sometime..I bet you'd like it more than you think.
