Don't buy anything assembled by Century Arms without being able to inspect it in person. CAI is who does alot of the currennt cheap AKs. After having a CAI ak 74 which I wound up selling due to canted FSB, I went with the Arsenal Saiga conversion 74 and couldn't be happier. When I get ready to add a 47 to the collection it will also be one of theirs.

As far as the accuracy of the semi auto 47, my dad can routinely hit a cantaloupe at nearly 100 yards with irons and i think his is one of the cheapo Romanians. Only thing more fun to shoot than the 47/74 is the Mosin Nagant Carbine lol.

You guys sure are finding a lot of AKs in the $400 range. Must be nice. I'm in Midland and all the ones at the recent gun shows here were about $600, which is a drop from where they were in 2008 when they were nearing $1000. Shit, the last time I saw a $400 AK is when I bought mine when I lived in Phoenix in 2007.

Oh well, it's not like I'm in the market for another one, anyways.

I was somewhat surprised how much guns were in midland/odessa. The only decent deals I seen were at on shop in midland and they were on consignment.

Sheeeiiit. My Norinco MAK-90 might be ghetto, but it is VERY accurate and I've got the targets to prove it. I love taking it to the range. Its cheap to shoot. Tons of accessories available. I don't have a bipod, no scope or optics. I'd have no issue going up against nicer weapons just for fun comparison. WTH am I going to do with a full auto anyway? Not like the zombie apocalypse is happening until at least October. I might have just gotten lucky with mine who knows.

i loved my mak-90, and kick myself for selling it.... they are a lot better than all of the romanian shit you see all over the place also.

Unless you are getting a fully automatic AK, don't bother.

Albeit, if you do want a select fire AK, I am all for it. They are fun as hell. Semi auto ones are however useless beyond the fact that they may impress some hood rats.

I have 2 AK47s, both Norincos one is an old and beat up that shoots 7.62 and the other is an underfolder that shoots 5.56, the 5.5f one is in really good shape, I bought it about a year ago for 500 with 5 mags, a cheap nylon case and 10 boxes of cheap ammo. The old one that shOots 7.62 is decently accurate and super fun to shoot, I have shot some old rusted fucked up ammo out of it with zero problems. I have read all the stuff that says you can fill them with mud and sand,etc and the will shoot fine, I have never tried that but believe it.


I also have an SKS that I have had since the late 90s that my dad bought me for 80 at a gun show, it came with a bloken side folding stock so I put a different "tacticool" stock on it, it is more fun than my AK imo.

I think if you're looking for something to play around with either will be great.
