If you are going to get a 1911, and price is no option then get a Wilson Combat. Transferable lifetime warranty, and they are some of the finest pistols in the world.

Alternately, if you want to really really be cool, get a sig P210 or a Korth.
God Dammit! Doc just when I think we are getting along why can't you just be more objective instead of listing a forum that's four fucking years old jesus!

There are quite a few custom 1911 makers out there if you have the $$. Personally I would take a look at http://www.fusionfirearms.com/ great customer service, an even better product, all at a price that is really reasonable in the 1911 world. They hand build their pistols and I'm sure they could put something really unique together for you.

I have talked to them about a long slide 10mm, but haven't taken the plunge yet

There are many different camps when it comes to 1911s. Some like Kimbers, some like Colts, Springfields, etc. But you will not find a single 1911 guy that will argue against Wilson Combat being one of the finest available.

Jackson Armory, a shop in Dallas near SMU is the largest stocking dealer in the USA. Go check them out.

I am sure that the Fusions are great guns, but they have no where near the brand name, recognition, or reputation that Wilson Combat has earned by making the world's finest 1911s since 1977. And if you want custom, then they will customize until your wallet is bloodied, beaten, and gasping for air.

If I were going to get a Wilson, I wouldn't go overboard with customization. I would keep it kind of simple-

The Wilson Combat pieces are probably over my price point for what I want. I would rate in price as follows: Wilson, Nighthawk, STI, Springfield, Kimber.

Wilson's I looked at (on their site) were above the $3,500.
Nighthawk has some in the $2,900 range that I really like.
STI has a lot of options. I like the Texas made. The 6.0 longslide in 9mm on a 1911 is too cool and priced pretty reasonable.
Springfield maybe where my coin goes with their TRP and Operator line; priced around $1,800.
Kimber, a $1,400 budget can get you what ever you want. If I went Kimber it would be the TLE/RL II for around $1,300. I just want it with a beveled magwell.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I have been told by many people that if you want the "bling" don't carry it or have it in your car. Doesn't look so great when the jury gets to see the pictures of it.

That "boring" Glock starts to look real pretty afterwards, lol.

A quick Google and you can find people even bad mouthing WC.
I would go Les Baer, Ed Brown, or SVI before I went Wilson.

If I was going to comp shoot I would go SVI over any of them:

I just ran a few searches on Wilson Combat guns, and did not find a single complaint ouside of price, and a few people having trouble with the mags in their kimbers.

If I was going full custom, SVI would probably be where I put my $$$. Man, it adds up quickly though!

price: honestly, dont give a shit. if like the gun ll buy it. wont ever have more than 2 guns imo so why skimp?

looks: want a gun that isnt boring... camo, blue, chrome, gold pearl, something baller... fuck a boring glock.

caliber: dunno? something thats accurate as hell and low recoil.. i dont want the gun flying around when m shooting it fast. like read on a gun site, the guy said he'd rather have 5 center of mass hits than 10 hitting the ceiling... lmao

My cousin who has like 30 guns says sig or kimber... R those the two top of line? I'm also very intrigued with a gun called the Five seveN by FN that shoots their P90 5.7x28mm rounds at extreme accuracy and long range. The only drawback is its sorta blah lookin.. Lol

Any help would be appreciated.. And if u have a cool gun in mind, where to buy?
For long range shooting, Just go out and buy a AR-15. They are accurate and they are hard to beat for the price.

For your second gun, go out and buy a Mossberg 590 or Winchester Defender. (Good home defense guns).

Get a Springfield XD two tone or duracoat it.

If you need shiny then get a stainless 1911.
