Yeah, Brian & I were setting up to shoot our lane and this yahoo next to us kept showing us his collection of wheel guns and handed me one and said "hey man, check out the trigger pull on this one" (all the while waving it around like a fly swatter). I pulled it from him and he said (several times) pull the trigger, it's not loaded... go ahead pull...
So, I proceed to open it up and voilà! A round in the cylinder just two pulls from the chamber.

I thought Brian was going to slap him.

            Nah, I'm a pacifist...

Besides, I think we both saw that coming. Good catch on your part.

Gun in your hand is your responsibility. Unless I've seen the port before it's handed to me, I check to make sure it's unloaded.

Dood thing you were pointed down range.

Yeah, "I" was pointed d/r, but he wasn't.

Also, protocol is to drop the magazine, rack the slide and lock open before passing a weapon, or in his case, open the cylinder of the wheel gun before passing it over.

Yeah, David did it right. The guy kept on and on about trying out his guns, and checking out the trigger pull. You could already tell he was a little off, so when he brings the gun over, I stepped back out of the direction it was pointing. David held it facing downrange and opened it up.

"C'mon man, you GOTTA feel the trigger. Seriously, I don't care if you dry fire it. Just dry fire it, I really don't mind."
"Um, hey, you've got a round in here."
                  "What the...how did that..."
"Yeah, you've got a round 2 away from the hammer"
"I just cleaned that, I guess one didn't drop out" (or something to that effect)

Even I dropped the magazine from my gun when just laying it down. This guy was walking around with it "loaded" in his bag, just pulling it out telling people to pull the trigger.

This guy needs to clear his guns while pointed at his temple.

That's why I prefer private ranges.

                      <-- newly realized range snob.

I just got back from Shoot Smart (again). I took my brother over for a quick refresher and to burn up some more lead.

                        Good range trip. No idiots.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

They have a private lane that is basically a don't shoot yourself lane. There is only enough room in there for 1-2 folks and is seperate from the other lanes.

I've used their private lane, I had a blast being left alone all by myself in there.
