  • What is it about 1911's?

There are guns that hold more rounds, lighter, more features, similar trigger, and so on but why do I feel like a need one? Maybe its the nostalgia or the fact that I have loved everyone I have fired.

Time to start looking I guess...

      I didn't feel like a real American(true Texan) until I bought a 1911.

A nice 1911 is a machine. They run well, shoot well, are hand fitted and it shows. They are assembled and tuned with care.

I don't look twice at a run of the mill 1911.

Next month I am going to go pick up the Gold Cup National Match my dad left me when he passed away. They are just great shooting guns and feel good in your hand. They may be an old design but it's one of my favorite guns to shoot.

Mark IV Series 80, full size with 5" barrel, .45, polished blued. Has some trigger work done on it. He really took good care of his guns too so it looks brand new. It was purchased in the mid- to late-80s IIRC. Not for sale in case that's what you're wondering.

Cool. I'm out on that. I'm searching for a new-in-box 70 series Combat Commander in 9mm, or maybe a GCNM Commander. We'll see what I end up with.

                      Does a 30-30 Marlin count? Or a S&W Model 27?

Every gun owner should own a 1911 to appreciate the feel and the look of the original designed SA handgun. I love my Series 80 Colt. I would never part with it.
