10/22 update.

    10/22 update.

    This started off as your plain 10/22 and today I started the first round of upgrades. Threw on a hogue overmold stock, volquartsen target trigger kit, volquartsen target hammer kit, Tac-Sol threaded & fluted bull barrel, Tac-Sol compensator, and a TSL extended magazine release.

    The hammer and trigger kit have bought the trigger pull down to about 2-2.5lbs and that's made a huge difference. I'm planning on heading to the range next weekend to make sure all the internals are functioning properly. Next on the list of mods will be to throw a scope and small bi-pod on it.

    How you liking that mag release? Mine is 100% stock like yours started, but the mag release bothers me. I want to re-work the bolt release too so it will close when you rack the bolt

      This mag release works 100% better. Definitely worth the $30 for the extended handle.


      My biggest worry right now is that I have a small metal pin and spring that was left over from my new hammer kit and for the life of me I can't figure out where it goes. So far everything seems to be working as it should.

          The tiny spring is the one that goes behind the trigger. Most trigger kits come with an extra hammer pin so that may be where that came from.

            That's what I was wondering about, to be honest it doesn't feel any stiffer or looser than the regular spring.

              Made a purchase this afternoon with SWFA to just about finish up the 10/22. Picked up the following:

              Harris Bipod
              Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 AO scope
              Leupold 30mm PRW scope rings
              Butler Creek flip up scope covers

              If the scope is way too much scope for the gun after I get it put on then I'll just throw it on my AR when I buy an upper for it.

                That's more scope than my .308 Mil-spec 700 has, I've got a leopold 4.5-14x40 and it was just slightly shy of the cost of the rifle

                    A Lyman digital trigger pull gauge. Still have a little creep to work out of it.

                        Volquartsen target/match trigger along with the match/target hammer. Both were further polished up.

                            I will admit without seeing it in person, the scope is bigger than I thought it would be but so far I'm happy with it. Yeah the scope sits tall, I really wasn't sure what size rings I'd need with this size scope, and the new mount I put on it. Probably could have gone with medium rings but I think it'll only drop the scope down a few millimeters. The really nice thing is when I put the stock against my shoulder, I don't have to move my head at all for the eye relief to be perfect.

                            I'll be going to the range this weekend to get it sighted in and I'll make a decision from there if I'm going to keep it or throw it on my AR. Only thing left to put on is a silencer.
