You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

Benchmade Griptilian, they run about $60-70. They aren't assisted openers, but the axis lock is so slick that they open just as fast if not faster than AOs.
They are built like a tank, and Benchmade's customer service/warranty is second to none. Also, there are tons of different versions, so you can easily find one that will fit whatever role you have in mind.2016 Chevrolet SS 6M

I just use a 4" case knife. I've cut rope, cloth, and a hog's throat with it. Still havent' sharpened it and it's going good."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin

I had a Kershaw Chive spring assisted for years but the tip broke. Not alot of heavy use either. The saftey barely catches now because the lock engages the tip and barely catches on mine. The spring assist is great though and it holds an edge but the broken tip pisses me off. I cant remember what I did with it but I make a point not to pry anything my knives tips.
That happened a few years ago and that year my boys gave me a cheap box set of Remington knives and that is what I have carried for the past 3 years or so, mostly for sentimental reasons but they work great for as cheap as they are, not spring assisted though. No broken tips either, lol.

I have a Kershaw Blackout, and I love it, BUT it opened up on me while clipped on my belt last year in Colorado when I went from sitting to standing. If I hadn't have noticed, it could have potentially gutted me if I'd fallen or got bent sideways just right, which is typical in that terrain. I wish it had a lock like other knives.

Have you looked at the Zero Tolerance knives made by Kershaw? My EDC is the 0350ST model, the blade is S30V stainless-steel with tungsten DLC coating, and the handle is a textured G-10. They also have the speedsafe auto assist. These come razor sharp and hold an edge very well. I picked mine up at Cheaper Than Dirt for a little over $100. This is a very heavy duty knife, solid stainless linners, thick blade, and heavy duty grips. The width of the blade is what sold me, this is one of the widest knife blades I have seen in a folder.

I LOVE this knife. I carry this on and off duty. It isnt a normal assisted open knife, but the horn on the top of the blade catches your pocket edge and opens as you pull it outa ur pocket. has the clip mounting holes on all four corners to fit your fancy on what pocket to carry it in. Its call the Spyderco Delica with Emerson Opener (i think the model number is C11PGYW). My other duty knife is CRKT Desert Cruiser. Ive had this knife for over 5 years with ALOT of use. The tan finish on the blade in still there with little show of use. **the knife below has a gray finish on the blade, mine is the tan finish. Matches the hilt.**

just found out yesterday that Benchmade bought Lone Wolf knives so that they could put their name on this: (my every day carry)
they didn't change anything but the etching on the blade! LOL I gotta say, it's the only non-benchmade knife I own. I knew I had good taste if Benchmade bought it too
