  • Need a safe, suggestions?

Well once I PCS to NAS Pensacola, all of my weapons will either need to be trigger locked or kept in a safe and stored separately from ammo.

I am trying to find a nice starter safe as my collection isn't huge yet. Just something for about 6 rifles and maybe 4 handguns to plan ahead just a bit. Anyone have experience with the Cabela's brand safes? Or would I be better off going with a name brand one? I want to try to pick it up locally before the move since I get paid based on the weight of my household goods I move

I like my crappy 8-gun steel cabinet. It was about $130 at Cabelas.

It depends on your budget. For lining the walls of your garage you can't buy Ft Knox safes unless you a loaded with cash. For the money you really can't beat the Century safes that you can get at Academy. Make sure to get one with a digital combo as turning the dial gets old real fast.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

Not sure how much you're looking to spend but Costco actually sells some nice gun safes.

Yup, they sell the absolute best bang for the buck. I recently sold one for 250 more then I paid for it and upgraded to a much bigger safe.

The same safes at other places can be 40-70% more.

Buying a safe is like buying a house.

Get the biggest, baddest mother fukker you can.

When I bought my safe (6' tall, 40" wide, 30" deep) I thought I'd never come close to filling it.

Now I have guns that I can't fit in the safe and need another one.

Id like to keep it ~600 if thats even possible. If its not, I can come up with the money of course, but that is what I'd like to spend. There is no REAL threat of these being stolen as it is a military base, but I have to have them in one. Later on when I become a homeowner I will definitely look into one of the ~$1500+ safes for my guns as well as other important items. But as for right now its just a handful of rifles and pistols.

I think last time I was at Costco they had a nice 550 lb Winchester safe for around that price. They also have some they sell online.

Looks like the one Costco had. I checked it out and looks pretty good. If you can get it for half what that website lists it at then that's comparable to their prices too.

Is it in-store only? because all i am seeing on their site are either more expensive, or they are the same price but much smaller.
