" A computer check on Guerena revealed a couple of traffic tickets and no criminal history."

They were certainly adamant about it NOT being a no-knock warrant. Me thinks thou doth protest too much.
That being said, if I hear someone milling around outside my house in the middle of the night, the FIRST thing I will do is arm myself. If someone then bursts through my door, it's game on. Home invasions are FAR too prevalent in otherwise "nice" neighborhoods to do otherwise. In Pima county, it would be foolish to do any otherwise.

The records of wrong doing I took as him saying they had nothing on the guy to issue a warrant. I do not understand what you guys are talking about with him not having a record. I arrested a murder suspect 2 weeks ago who had NO Record. Not even a speeding ticket. 2 months ago an officer with my department stoped a drug smuggler on I-45. The guy had 2 speeding tickets ever in his life. That is all.

I still don't see where they had reason to do that though. I mean, if my neighbor is a crack dealer, does that give them cause to bust my door in?

That is what I am waiting for. It sounds like this guy and his neighbors were buddies and the neighbors were slinging some dope. I find it odd that they will say what they found next door but not at this guy's house.

It's a catch 22 if he was a dealer - in a way. I mean, what's to stop some burglars to barge into someone's house dressed as SWAT and killing the whole family. People impersonate police, that's been proven in the past.

My biggest concern on this is that they had no good cause to enter his home. We all maybe friends with people who smoke/deal, does not mean I do any of that. I'd pull a gun too and get shot.

Not everyone can live in nice neighborhoods too. I mean, you want the riff-raff cleared out, but you don't want to be invaded and killed just because you can't live in an upper-class neighborhood.

edit: Just re-read your post - most of my reply still applies though.

Probably as crooked as the rest of them if he is this quick to start making excuses based on limited info. Not to mention his reading comprehension sucks balls, glad to see the PD has such a stringent entry exam to get that badge.

I hear all they require is a chip on the shoulder....

You arrested a murder suspect, you didn't break into his house and kill him. I hope you had evidence and a warrant, unlike your Arizona buddies. And it sounds like the I-45 drug smuggler was caught in a routine traffic stop, which I have no problem with IF it was a legitimate stop (speeding, no signaling, expired tags, etc.) I'm sure you are a huge supporter of the Indiana ruling saying the 4th ammendment means nothing and the cops can do what they want?

i read yesterday (maybe diff article)the reason the warrant was obtained was countersurveillance.

                        let me explain...
they said a unmarked car / undercover vehicle had been observing the house for some reason.
When it left , 10 minutes later the plate on the car was run through DMV.
so they assumed this was some sort of counter survelliance operation I guess.

Also at the Vet's house was found NOTHING illegal. The police/swat team even said if they had just let them in (KNOCK warrant FYI) , then they probably wouldn't have been arrested.

To me something is definitely fishy here. I think the guy died under some unusual circumstances, but they appeared to be there for some reason that MIGHT be legit.

He had some kind of "narco saint" picture under his bed too. Maybe not a big deal, certainly not illegal, but odd...

for the record I have no problem with KNOCK warrants. It's NO KNOCK warrants I am very suspicious are a reasonible thing to be doing everywhere , every day.

NO KNOCK warrants didn't even exist practically before 1990.
                          According to WIKI :
"The number of no-knock raids has increased from 3,000 in 1981 to more than 50,000 in 2005..."

EVERY CITY DIDNT HAVE A DAMN SWAT TEAM either! OH how did we EVER survive you ask? LOL

They are unneeded in 99.9% of all uses I ASSURE YOU. It's a total bullshit extension of the drug war. I also further think ZERO of them should be issued for drug related reasons.
They could easily arrest everyone when they leave, then knock on the door.
                          NO VIOLENCE neccessary .
Even 4 year old kids understand the 'do no harm ' mantra in life, and cops and their rubber stamp judges don't get that. They would rather endanger EVERYONE, and make the world more dangerous than drugs ever have.

Have to agree with the supports for this guy. Plenty of criminals get away with stuff everyday because of politics. Yet this guy asleep in his house with no criminal record gets killed because the cops busted in his house with little to no good reason. How hard would it have been to turn on the red&blue lights when he left for work in the morning and then arrested him for "failing to signal" or something stupid.

I am not arguing for either side. Nice to see I am dense as shit though. I came in here giving my opinion on the little facts that were given. Much like everyone else in here gave theirs. Its always different to you guys when someone gives their opinion, and they are a cop. As if we cannot have opinions. So if that makes me dense, then so be it. Honestly I believe that makes you dense since you do not believe I am entitled to my own opinion. I honestly don't care either way. I think the Pima county Sheriff is a moron. All I was saying all along is wait for the evidence to come out. Right now all they are saying they have gotten is guns and body armor from his house. You guys believe everything that the media puts out which is funny.

Lmao. I am the one this quick to make excuses on limited info. Haha this is too funny. Everyone in here, including yourself is making a conclusion knowing "limited info", where as I am saying I won't make a conclusion untill the evidence is thrown out there. I am glad it was so easy for me to get the badge also. Whew was it easy
