Pistol = like the others said Ruger or Browning. I have had both as well as the Sig and Walther and the Ruger was probably my favorite. Would not own another Mosquito or P22.
Rifle = 10/22
Sig Mosquito is more comfy in my hand than the P22, though not all that accurate really. My Dad's Ruger MkI is the pistol we use for accuracy. My GSG5 and my son's 10/22 are the have both been a lot of fun though my granfathers bolt action .22 outperfoms them both.
Ruger 22/45 is cool, but if you have big hands, I'd avoid it. The grip isnt changeable like the Mk III or Mk II. Those have screws that you can change the grip panels out with, the 22/45 is all plastic. And you cant use a Hogue slip-on because you have to have access to the back of the grip to tear down the weapon.

I have a 1974 Browning T-Bolt T-2 (Belgium-made) that will absolutely drive tacks, even with open sights. They're not cheap anymore. Can't go wrong with the 10/22 in stainless.
I have a Ruger Mark III and a S&W 22A. They are both pretty accurate and I can shoot comparable groups with them but I'd say the Ruger has a slightly better trigger and is a little more reliable when it gets dirty than the 22A. The 22A is cheaper and a lot easier to take apart and clean.
Atlantic Blue '00 - '03 Cobra motor and TKO600, solid axle, full MM suspension
Silver '01 Vette - D1 blown LS
The S&W 22A sounds promissing...I'll throw that in with the Bersa Thunder and the Beretta Neos. The wife and I are going shotting tomorrow, so we'll see...
