    Is it worth it?

I've had a complete lower for a couple years now.
Now that I am in a sbr friendly state I can't decide. It will be a truck gun and all around farm use. Optics will be a red.dot and irons.

    So 12.5 or 14.5 or 14.5 welded , or standard 16.

Longest shots will be around 300 yards with must under 150

I would never use an NFA item as a "truck gun".

If it gets stolen, you have to deal with the ATF...

Not worth it for a truck gun. Just go buy a mini-14 for a truck gun.

              Money is not an object.

Also where I live now the chance of any theft is slim to none.

Right now I use a old sks. It will see a lot of abuse. A lot of moisture and cold/hot temps.

Also a lot of very fine dirt and sand in the tractor in the fall and winter months.

My main question was for people with sbr rifles.

Is it really worth all the hassle. I can pin a 14.5 myself.

Well if you have a need for an SBR or you will gain a significant advantage by having one, why is it even a question? Go for it

disclaimer: I dont own an SBR

I'll be putting an SBR AR together as soon as possible, but I think I'd really like a Savage Precision Carbine for a, "truck gun."

IMO, a 14.5 SBR is not worth the hassle. Like you said, you can just pin a flash hider on and not have to pay the tax stamp. 12.5 I think is worth that extra $200.

Just buy a AK underfolder and be done with it. Shorter than a SBR AR anyhow, and much much cheaper.

Based on these statements, get a folding stock AK and be done with it. They don't mind dirt/dust/being wet, temperature extremes, etc...and they can be had relatively cheaply.

SBR AR for your purposes will NOT be worth the time, or money.

an SBR is nice to have, but i'd recommend 12.5 or shorter.
however for a truck gun - your sks or an ak are really your best bets.

if you have your mind set on an sbr, what about an sbr ak?

regardless of ar or ak, an sbr is fun & cool to own.

There are 3 reasons for an sbr

1)Actual use such as QCB for SWAT and such

2)store in a small confined area such as briefcase guns and such

3)they look cool and you want one

As far as farm use there is no reason one way or the other it works fine but if all your doing is going to a 14.5 egh its only 1.5 inches not worth $200 to me unless you plan to get other uppers
