He lost weight years ago. Something about "not eating as many hamburgers" or something to that effect. Old news.
How about all the crazy cool shit that's in this video? The LOTR movies were pretty much perfect by my estimation. I can't wait for the Hobbit.
Personally, there are some big thematic differences and details that don't fit into the world established by LOTR. Man that can turn into a bear, talking dragon, drunken elves... stuff like that, that I am a little wary of, but I know PJ will do a good job with it.

I am glad he is directing it. I have nothing against Del Toro and enjoy his movies but I think Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with LOTR so why mess with perfection?. I think the scene in the third movie where the Riders of Rohan charge the lines of the Mordor army may be one of the best battle scenes ever created for a film.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

I read alot of the books and enjoyed his adaptation of them. I don't anyone could make it better. That battle scene is epic.
I can't believe I never read the hobbit though. I would like to see an adaptation of one of the earlier stories from the Silmarillion.

In the Hobbit, the kingdom that Legolas is from (and presumably will be present in, since Orlando Bloom is in the movie) plays a huge roll, and they're all drunk on wine. A lot.
It's a very minor point, but I've read these books and seen these movies so many times, it's this sort of minutia and minor inconsistencies that will keep me entertained.

Anyone catch a look at the cast and characters for this movie? Some interesting stuff.
Legolas, Galadriel, Frodo, and Saruman were not in the Hobbit. Not sure how they are going to tie them into the story. Legolas seems to be the easiest to tie in as he is from Mirkwood. But Frodo isn't even born I don't think, and Saruman wasn't mentioned at all in the book. Galadriel could just be thrown somewhere in the mix with the elves I guess.
Another note, where is Bard? He isn't even listed on the cast on IMDB. Pretty important character to not have listed. I won't say why, but those who have read the book know what I am talking about.
