  • New AMC show, The Killing

Saw a commercial yesterday for this new show AMC has called The Killing. Looks OK maybe, set the DVR to record it. Starts Sunday at 8:00 I think, 2 one hour shows first night.

Watch the latest full episodes and video extras for AMC shows: The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Killing Eve, Fear the Walking Dead, Mad Men and more.

AMC has begun production on the network's next original series, The Killing. From writer, executive producer and series showrunner Veena Sud (Cold Case), The Killing is based on the wildly successful Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation. Season one will consist of thirteen one-hour episodes and will debut with a 2 hour premiere on Sun., Apr. 3 at 9PM | 8C.

The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

The Killing stars Mireille Enos (Big Love) as Sarah Linden, the lead homicide detective that investigates the death of Rosie Larsen; Billy Campbell (Once and Again) as Darren Richmond, Seattle's City Council President and now running for Mayor; Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) as Stephen Holder, an ex-narc cop who joins the homicide division in the investigation to find Rosie's killer; Michelle Forbes (True Blood) as Rosie's mother, Mitch Larsen; and Brent Sexton (W., In the Valley of Elah) as Rosie's father, Stan Larsen. The pilot is directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster).

Filmed in Vancouver, The Killing is produced by Fox Television Studios and executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen (Burn Notice) for Fuse Entertainment. Fuse's Kristen Campo co-produces. AMC’s Joel Stillerman, senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content, Susie Fitzgerald, senior vice president of scripted development and current programming and Jason Fisher, senior vice president of production oversee production of the series for the network.

eries Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation.

No thanks. I've already seen Twin Peaks and can guarantee that was a better show than this is going to be.

I don't see how they are going to make a series out of this. Seems like it would get pretty boring after they spend 3 seasons investigating one murder. I see this show getting cancelled before they solve it, if for no other reason to piss off viewers.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Breaking Bad is the best show on Television, or right up there, for sure. Mad Men has a huge following too, but it's just too slow for me. I don't even get in to zombies and vampires and shit like that, but I really liked The Walking Dead.

I've never been a fan of zombie movies but the Walking Dead was excellent. My wife is even less enthused with them and she got hooked on it as well.

Watched the shows last night, pretty decent. Started slow and I almost lost interest, but it looks like it may be OK.

Geor!, never saw Twin Peaks, guessing it was the same type of show.

I like it so far. A little slow, but that's to be expected in the first few episodes while they are setting tone, character background, etc. I definitely had a couple WTF moments though.

I also never saw Twin Peaks, nor do I know any history about what the show is based on. This was an actual murder?

                    Nah, not a true story.

It's a David Lynch TV show though, so it's got quite a few of it's "wtf?!" moments. Season one is a bit slow, season two picks up. The "prequel" movie that was made needs to be watched after the series, not before.

It did start slow, but it's growing on me. I thought I was going to hate the wigger replacement cop, but after he played captain creep-o with the soccer girls, I started to like him a little.

I'm gonna throw my guess out there and say it was Richmond's weasel assistant. He seemed way to excited about the PR opportunity of the dead girl, and said that Richmond knew all about that kind of loss...

I'm probably wrong, but I'm sure the season will show the stories of the most likely candidates, and there will be some screwball twist at the end.

*edit* Just checked out the suspect tracker they have on the AMC site, and that guy is the most popular choice.

The creep cop actually raised my eyebrows a little. Seems like for some reason, he may know more than he lets on.

I'm leaning more towards her little friend Sterling and some accomplice, but it will probably be some random street walker living in the basement at the school during the night.

She did seem awfully jumpy when the father ran into her...

I decided to watch this show and have absolutely loved it so far. The sparse dialog and just letting the mood and images speak works very well.

I think the Mayor is behind it. Maybe not the actual killer, but the one who gave the orders. He saw his poll numbers down and his inevitable mayoral spot vacated, so he decided to create some grisly headlines, putting his opponent in a bad light.
