  • Netflix increasing prices....again

I really don't know why I haven't switched to one of these jail broken firesticks yet. Maybe because my internet sucks ass where I'm currently living. Between Netflix, satellite, and the wife trialing Hulu, it may be time to dump them all.

Many Netflix subscribers are about to get a bigger monthly bill.

The streaming service sent emails this week to U.S. subscribers about a price increase that starts in their next billing cycle. It's an increase some Netflix customers have already seen.
Netflix announced the price hikes in January, and said at the time that the increased revenue would help it add more television shows and movies. The company has been rolling out the price increases over the last few months, based on billing cycles.
The email to subscribers is a reminder that each of Netflix's plans in the United States will increase between $1 to $2. The price of the basic plan will rise from $8 to $9 per month, the standard plan that includes HD streaming on two devices will go from $11 to $13 per month, and the price of its premium plan will increase from $14 to $16.
Netflix has been investing heavily in original content. It budgeted $8 billion for new shows and movies in 2018, the company announced when it reported third quarter earnings in 2017.
Its investments paid off in terms of awards. The streaming service took home three Academy Awards, including Best Director for its film "Roma" in February. Netflix also won 23 total Emmys for shows including "The Crown," "Stranger Things" and "GLOW" in 2018. Netflix tied for the most Emmy wins last year with HBO, which previously held the record.
Investors initially rewarded the company for increasing prices. The stock jumped 6% after the January announcement and has been trading mostly higher ever since.
Members who joined after the increase was revealed already have been paying the higher prices. Analysts told CNN Business that most existing customers are willing to pay more as long as Netflix continues to provide a wide range of popular content.
Netflix will also face several new competitors in 2019.
Apple recently unveiled TV+, its own streaming service that will feature original content, including two docu-series from Oprah Winfrey and a drama that stars Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell. That service doesn't yet have a release date. Disney, NBCUniversal and WarnerMedia, CNN's parent company, all plan to launch streaming services this year, too

If you have amazon prime, it’s worth it to have a stick.. it’s got a bunch of movies and shows that come with being a member.
Probably the best apk’s to Sideload these days are mobdro, livenettv, and black panther (replacement to terrarium).. between those you can get most of what people need.. but you gotta be patient sometimes because they can get laggy. Also really need to use a vpn with those

DirecTv Now is also raising prices for their first "new joiners" that got the big package for like $35 a month. They offer some smaller packages at a reduced rate, but half the channels my wife wants are not included. It is getting to the point that cutting the cord aint as good a deal as it use to be. But with Frontier for our provider, we are screwed, they charge too much to bundle TV and use 3 receivers.

Netflix I am like so so on. I have the 4K package, so it is a higher rate, and now I am questioning keeping it. Don't watch it that often. I'll probably binge a few shows, then cancel them.

I've got the middle tier and I'll see what Netflix starts offering after Disney leaves, and what Disney will charger for their channel. I still have Prime, and though I find their movies lacking, at least Prime has other perks with it.

If you're a Tmo subscriber and have at least 2 lines on their tax inclusive One plan, you get the 2 screen HD Netflix plan for free.

Although I have a jailbroken Fire TV I subscribe to both Netflix and Prime because I enjoy their content. I enjoy the "paid" content but have the jailbroken FireTV more for the convenience of being able to watch it when I want to. I still pay to go to the movies and for the services but I've really curtailed buying DVD's.

It's going to suck losing Disney for the Marvel movies though as I won't pay for Disney content just to see Marvel movies.
