Compared to some of the crap they've done in recent memory (St. Anger comes to mind), this fucking rocks! Sounds like a slightly updated version of what they were doing back in the early 80's.
I'm not mad at that at all.
I really fucking liked death magnetic also.
What an incredible band. 30-32 years since their debut album and band is still around with all (right?) the original members, and still fuckin' banging like this? much respect.

James and Lars are the only original members. Dave Mustaine of Megadeth was the guitarist before Kirk. He was fired before Kill em all came out. Cliff Burton was the original bassist, but died in a tour bus wreck. Jason Newsted(sp?) replaced him until 2001 when he left the band. Robert Trujillo joined after St. Anger was recorded.
As for this new track, I like it. I liked Death Magnetic a lot too. Can't wait to hear the new album. A friend of mine said it's supposed to be a double album.

Reason: spelling

Its unfortunate that Mustaine was a drunk and got kicked out. Metallica would be much better with him assuming him and Hetfields ego's would have survived. If i remember correctly Mustaine wrote most of Kill em All.
On a side note Megadeth would've been much greater had he been able to convince Dimebag Darrell to join. The stipulation from Dimebag was that Vinnie got to join as well which Mustaine didn't want.

If you wanna get technical, Burton wasn't the original bassist, Ron McGovney was.
No Life Till Leather was Hetfield, Mustaine, Ulrich, & McGovney.

I do like Death Magnetic as well, but it's Metallica trying to imitate Metallica. Just doesn't feel genuine to me. Lar's sounds like a metronome.
"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin "A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler
I like the instruments, but the vocals are seriously rushed. Metallica's best stuff is when the lyrics are delivered slower. Master of Puppets, Wherever I May Roam, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Enter Sandman, and Aint My bitch are prime examples. Hell even Blitzkrieg is an example of a fast tempo and slower vocals.
