  • Southpaw - Jake Gyllenhaal

My wife and I picked this up from redbox over the weekend. I thought it was a decent movie and she liked it too. It had a little something for everyone; love, loss, kids and of course fighting. It was a little predictable, but I think pretty much every boxing movie is.

I'm surprised there hasn't already been a thread on it.

You mean, like a real story about, you know, catching the guy that shot his wife?

I kept asking, why isn't that part of the movie? Why isn't he at least getting a face to face with the guy that shot his wife?

I thought the dude that shot his wife was in his own security detail, and it was an accident. The dude came to his house afterwards to talk about it and he told him to GTFO.

It was his friend and he didn't want him prosecuted, because it wouldn't bring his wife back.

Watch it again. His friend didn't shoot his wife. The other boxers crew did and the other boxer took the gun and hid it.

He told his friend to GTFO because he failed to protect his wife.

You might be right, that entire ordeal was really rushed.
