Xbone or PS4?

I've been thinking about upgrading to the "next" gen console. I generally only like RPG and racing type games on consoles as my thumbs are retarded and I can't aim for shit in an FPS.

Which one would you guys recommend?

I only did brief research, but from what I found the PS4 seems to be more powerful and capable. I bought my kid the XBoxOne though, solely because backwards compatibility is coming soon in a software update.

I don't consider the last gran turismo being worth a damn.

Beyond gaming, the xbone wins, hand down as a media center piece. Not to mention the upcoming rollout of dx12 and windows 10 that the xbone will be getting. Most people also fail side by side graphics quality "pepsi challenges" when trying to determine which system is which. With the exception of exclusive game titles, there isn't a single reason I can imagine the ps4 being the smarter buy.

I have both, and prefer the Xbox. I use it daily, if not for gaming for streaming, skype, etc. The interface is much better.

I haven't noticed the PS4 being drastically better in terms of video quality in game, so really the exclusive titles are the only reason to get one.

FWIW I was a PS3 nut hugger last gen, didn't care for the 360 at all.

Can you download apps like Plex, Amazon, and Netflix? Honestly the system will be used as a dvd/blue ray / streaming device 90% of the time. I may get Destiny and try that out.

Forza 6 will be out in September.

I honestly can't recommend anything other than one of the two forza games (forza 5 or Horizon 2), or Destiny. Every time I find an xbone game I want to play, it's also on pc so I get it there instead.

Witcher seems to be getting good reviews. Right now on xbox live gold, you can D/L one of the last assassin's creed for free this month.

There's a gopro app I spend a lot of time watching with my kids.

Any game that can be had on the PC I will get for the PC. I prefer racing games on the console, though.

If you are into racing games I would probably say go XB because of wheel issues with PS4. Logitech mainly but there are others that were great wheel but will not be compatible with the PS4. (unless you buy an adapter which from what I have read gives a bit of lag in response.)


I have a G27 and loved that with GT6. THen when project cars came out I had to buy it on PC because the G27 is not compatible. There are tons of wheels out there that work but if you already own one there is a chance it will not work on PS4.

I have a G27 and it works on my PS3 but doesn't on XB360 or either newer platform... I guess I'll have to pony up for a nice expensive unit that will work on the new platforms as well as PC before I upgrade to a new console.
