The whole history of the show is fucked up. Also, what the fuck is up with the terrain?

I figured they would screw the history up a bit, but didn't expect a complete butchering. I'm still going to watch it, maybe it gets better. The terrain thing is funny though, I thought of that too right away. It's the desert! Lol

I thought the first episode was a bit disjointed and they are trying to run with too many characters.

I noticed the terrain too. The huge cliffs are really out of place. The desert look is odd, but I have always wondered how much we have changed the Texas landscape with our man made lakes and irrigation. Texas is always portrayed as a desert, in all western movies.

Lakes have changed it a little, but in the show San Antonio has a mountain range along with Gonzales gigantic cliff sides.

Bill Paxton may be awesome, but his acting is fucking horrible.

He subscribes to the "taking a dump" school of acting... where, when in doubt of how to portray actual emotions on screen, you just make a face like you're taking a dump.

He peaked in Weird Science IMO

That's a funny comedy bit, but I think that simply isn't true.

They filmed in Durango, Mexico. That's why it looks wrong.

I have been wondering about the filming. I bet they couldn't afford to film it in Texas.

                          Sad really.

They probably filmed the Hatfields & McCoys in California.

                            EDIT: Romania

Yeah, I felt the first episode was odd too. It felt like it was supposed to be the start of season 2 or something. I found the acting to be hit and miss as well. Some are on par, others give a sense of awkwardness. The 2 kids courting the nurse girl in the med tent was one of those moments where I looked around hoping no one else was watching lol. Overall it's fun and I plan to continue.

The founders of Texas would be ashamed of current Texas and the breed of "Texans" that aimlessly jerk off into the night sky trying to hit the Lone Star without knowing or caring about the history of the state and reaching for the Joneses.
