This show had a lot going for it. Not sure why it only lasted 1 season.

Wrong channel. Wrong time. Great show dead before its time.

Just got finished watching it on Netflix.

If you didn't already know...there was a movie made some time after called "Serenity". It's excellent as well.

And don't miss "Dr. Horrible's Sing along Blog" as well from Josh Wheddon.

I've never watched Firefly, but Serenity kicks ass.

Love the show. Just found it myself this last year.

Everything it does, it does so damn well. The Captain is a stubborn jackass, some of the most lovable crew (Jayne) have almost no redeeming character qualities, and the most sophisticated and intelligent person on the boat is the whore.

It was so damn good, of course it had to die young.

Man, you should have reversed it. Serenity answers all the questions brought up by the series and bookends it. They tied everything up nicely with that movie.

You've pinpointed it much better than I've been able to. Jayne cracks me up. "Are you familiar with the chain of command? It means I go get a chain and beat you with it until you do what I tell you!" I enjoy the captains indifference to problem solving. Kicking the guy into the jet engine after he goes on a diatribe about hunting the captain down, or the head hunter in Serenity telling him he is unarmed, so he pulls out his gun and shoots him. Completely unapologetically unredeemable characters. Fantastic.

The Writer's Guild strike killed it. It was doing well, and picking up ratings, they just didn't have anyone to write for it, and Joss Whedon wanted to support the SWG. He took a bunch of those people and made Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog to pass the time. Greatness.

Still doesn't say what Shepherd did in the past with the Alliance.

Good show that didn't deserve to die. I missed it while it was playing but one of my friends at work loaned me his DVD season of it and I really enjoyed it. Probably need to add it to my collection but I did buy Serenity.

They aired the original series out of order for one. Plus had it on Friday night like at 8-9pm and then moved it to another time slot..another "death hour" slot.

Great show and gone too soon. I'm glad it had such a following that it got made into a movie. Still don't like that they bumped off Wash.

I bought the box set. Will watch the whole thing in a week when I get the urge.

                              Zoe: "Shoot 'em?"

                              Mal: "Politely."
Mal: "Oh! That was bracing. They don't like it when you shoot at them. I worked that out myself."
Wash: "Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction."

Zoe: "We live in a space ship, dear."
Mal: "Mercy is the mark of a great man."
