  • Halo: Nightfall directed by Ridley Scott

Here's the first Halo: Nightfall trailer. It's confirmed: Agent Locke will be a playable character in Halo 5: Guardians.

It was confirmed at the Halo: Nightfall SDCC 2014 panel that Agent Locke will be a playable character in Halo 5: Guardians.

Previously, Locke was revealed as a new Spartan who would be joining Master Chief in his latest adventure. Not much more was known about this character, whose first name is Jameson, except that his origin story would be told in Ridley Scott's digital feature, Halo: Nightfall.

Played by Mike Colter (The Good Wife), Agent Locke leads a mission to the destroyed Halo ring from Halo: CE to find the people who are mining an element that is poisoning humans all over the galaxy.

Not much more is known about Agent Locke or his role in Halo 5 except that he's playable, which means that his role is probably pivotal to the game's storyline. This is the first time there will be a second playable character in a major Halo installment since Halo 2, when the Arbiter co-starred in the battle against the evil Covenant. But don't fret: Master Chief is still the star of the next installment in the blockbuster series.

Here is the synopsis from Xbox Wire:

Taking place between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall follows the origin story of legendary manhunter Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and his team as they are caught in a horrific terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity on the distant colony world of Sedra. Led by Locke, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents are forced to coordinate with a Sedran commander with a remarkable history and deep-rooted mistrust of ONI. As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives. Agent Locke is a new character in the Halo universe poised to play a major role in Halo 5: Guardians releasing on Xbox One in 2015.

Nightfall is a live action digital series, written by Prison Break's Paul Scheuring and produced by Ridely Scott's Scott Free Productions.

The series will release sometime this fall, but will for sure be bundled with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a box set with all the Halo games featuring updated graphics for Xbox One, which is set for release on November 11.

Just make a full length movie already!!!

These are soo good but they are too short.

I even liked the training academy short with Master Chief owning it in the end.
