  • Untitled Ridley Scott Project ‘Prometheus 2’ Set for 2016

It feels like forever and a day since we received any updates for the ‘Prometheus’ Sequel that was promised to be released in 2015. “Prometheus” was set as a loose prequel for Scott’s 1979 sci-fi “Alien”. Even though the film grossed more than $400 million worldwide, fans embraced the “prequel” with mixed reviews and in need of answers! We may be in luck geeks, it seems the sequel is finally happening. There have been more than a couple reports suggesting that the “Untitled Ridley Scott Project” is in fact a sequel to “Prometheus”. When 20th Century Fox announced a plethora of new releases last week, buried among the superhero infested list was Scott’s Project dated for March 2016.

Speculations lead many to believe it may be the much talked about Blade Runner sequel that will make the headlines as the possible “Untitled Project”, but no, the film will be in development under Alcon/Warner Brothers and not at Fox, so that is a sure miss. The guys over at thewrap.com says that multiple sources informed them that the “Untitled Ridley Scott Project” that 20th Century Fox announced is “Prometheus 2”. Moreover, the studio has also hired a new writer with Scott eyeing a fall production start-date for the sequel.

“Green Lantern” writer Michael Green will pen “Prometheus 2”, which is promising to be “more “alien-y” and in line with the terrifying tone of past films in the franchise.” Green whose credits also include “Smallville” and “Heroes” is expected to polish the original draft previously penned by Jack Paglen (“Transcendence”). The film will also feature multiple “David” androids according to multiple reports, with more than one Michael Fassbender on-screen at the same time.

Ridley Scott will return as a producer but it’s unclear if he will take a seat behind the lens. Fassbender will be joined by Noomi Rapace to reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw. Production is set to start this fall after Scott is done with “Exodus”.

I think a lot of the blame lies on the studio and the script writers

        This.

No action, crumby cast, shit plot (I use the term plot loosely).

Man this reminds me. I just got done reading a couple books that were the same exact concept as this movie. "The Atlantis Gene" and "The Atlantis Plague" by A.G. Riddle. They were pretty damn good and followed the Prometheus storyline almost exactly. Much deeper of course, but really good.

I've read Gene, but didn't realize there was a sequel until your post. Just bought Plague and will get into it after I finish my current book.

            Thanks

I really liked Prometheus a lot. Looking forward to this. Also okay with a Bladerunner sequel.

I liked Prometheus a lot, too. The ending was corny, but it was otherwise pretty badass. They left a lot of stuff unexplained, but a little digging online helps tie it all together.

                Looking forward to another one.

Prometheus was the most beautiful piece of crap I've ever seen. The design and technical execution was great, the story sucked. Bad. I blame Damon Lindlehoff.

The story was much, much deeper than what they were able to portray in the limited minutes of the movie. I liked it a lot better after reading more about it. I think it was a thread here that had links with more info. May have been one of the other boards I'm on, though. I may dig for it in a bit.

This is why I really liked the movie. The more I watched, the more I started to pick up on certain messages. Anything I didn't quite understand I would look it up online.

I watched it for the second or third time the other day and still can't figure out why that guy transformed into whatever he was. I don't understand the connection of that to the aliens. Also, why do they look different? Is the breed that infected the chick a different type of alien and it hadn't spawned in a human yet so it just looked like an octopus?

From what I recall from watching it a year ago, the shit the aliens were there for was to manufacture a weapon to eradicate the humans that they created in their image. The planet was a weapons base to manufacture the black sludge which, essentially, is a weapon. But, it ended up killing them as well.

The super face hugger is needed in order to create the first cycle of the xenomorph. The deacon is part of the life cycle that will eventually evolve into the alien from alien. If you watched closely at murals that changed in the chamber, they showed the engineers side by side with a xenomorph. Also on the wall behind the tomb showed the life cycle from egg to queen. In the middle of it was the outline of the deacon alien shown at the end. On the bottom corners it showed the super face hugger.
