The Avro Arrow was an incredible aircraft, one of the first successful Mach 2+ interceptors. It was designed and built in Canada to give NATO an airplane capable of dealing with Soviet overflights into the US.

And one day - POOF - the entire project was cancelled and all aircraft, parts, and tooling were ordered destroyed. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding the circumstances of the event, which put Avro Canada out of business.
