    copy/pasted from Kevin Smith's Facebook

    doesn't seem that long ago

IT WAS 20 YEARS AGO TODAY...
On October 3rd, 1993 at 11am, we screened CLERKS for the first time at the Angelika Film Center as part of the IFFM. These two photos were taken in the lobby before the screening and the View Askew stickers we stuck all over SoHo. The Angelika was the very same indie movie temple at the corner of Houston and Mercer where I'd first seen SLACKER two years prior, igniting my passion for low budget cinema (If you've ever seen THE SNOWBALL EFFECT doc on the making of CLERKS - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP8Ka82QvDc[/ame] - you know the story already). There was nobody in the audience but folks who'd worked on CLERKS... and one guy named Bob Hawk who would change my life forever by recommending the film a bunch and urging us to submit the flick to Sundance. Many thanks, Bob, for making time at 11am on 10/3/93, twenty years ago today.
    — with Walt Flanagan, Kevin Smith, Scott Mosier and David Klein.

This is one of those movies that I feel that I should like, but never could being that it kinda sucks.

Probably because you have horrible taste in movies and usually like some off the wall weird shit.

I can't really think of any weird movies that I like. Clerks was just boring to me. The "Try not to suck any dicks on the way to your car." or whatever was the only time I remember laughing in the entire movie.

It was low budget, but had great humor in discussing the life of young twenty somethings who were just hating life at that point and making the best of it. We could all relate. I think it broke a lot of barriers for taboo topics as well.
