  • X-Force film

According to those canny minutiae trackers over at X-MenFilms.com, 20th Century Fox have registered the domain name for a possible X-Force movie – the hugely popular ’90s X-Men spin-off that dealt with a far more pro-active team led by Cyclops’ son – the time travelling future warrior and pouch enthusiast Cable.

It’s worth nothing that two of the core X-Force line-up are set to appear in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past – the Native American tracker James ‘Warpath’ Proudstar, and the solar-powered Bobby ‘Sunspot’ DaCosta – and it’s not hard to imagine Cable emerging as a consequence of the film’s time travel plot, perhaps escaping or rescued from a future that ceases to exist once our heroes have set the timeline right.

Speaking exclusively to SciFiNow, longtime 20th Century Fox executive and producer on The Wolverine Hutch Parker discussed the possibility of further X-Men movies – which like Logan’s latest solo outing – move even further away from the established superhero mould.

“I do,” said Parker, when asked if the formula for The Wolverine could work for other X-movies. “I think it all comes down to the character, and do you have – we have the great fortune of the underlining material – but do you have the underlining material to take that character on a journey that is really able to support and event movie treatment?

“The richness of this world means that is very much true of the world that is X-Men and the characters that populate it, so I think what Fox is embarked on is opened themselves up to the exploring them in different configurations.

“What they did with X-Men: First Class was inspired and Matthew Vaughan and what he was doing, and we’re very excited to see what the same reactions will be to The Wolverine, and we think we will continue in the tradition that you and I have been discussing, and we hope that it will be as satisfying as we intended it to be in those levels.

“And we hope we will see more of that, seeing these characters explore different facets of what is such an expansive universe, it’s only natural and it’s our obligation as the creators and storytellers to find those situations and those storylines that will compel and satisfy.”

X-force was my least favorite x book. It just kind of felt like a bunch of little whiny Kids running around trying to be heroes. Even cannonballs power seemed cheesy to me. It would be cool to see cable on the big screen though.

The picture used above is a little misleading. Colosus wasn't really an x force team member from what I recall. I could be wrong though.

Why hasn't anyone just gone out and registered a website for every marvel comic book? Seems like that would turn a profile if done correctly.

I remember buying the first issue of X-Force...when they canceled New Mutants after issue 100, it launched to X-Force. For the time it was pretty cool...it was at the height of Marvel writing and art imo. Then all the heavy hitting artists and writers realized that whenever they came up with a good idea (Cable, Shatterstar, etc) that it belonged to Marvel...so they said screw that and launched Image.

I think Cable would be a good solo movie...but they have fucked him up so much that I don't know about that now.

Jim lee and rob leffield were bad ass. I ended up collecting comics after they split from marvel.

Cables story is all over the map. There Is a lot there to make a good movie.

I would like to see an age of apocalypse trilogy. People know tbe characters enough to be shocked with an alternate reality. One handed wolverine, one eyed Cyclops, etc.

if they use the "days of future past" movie to pave the way to a movie featuring apocalypse, then maybe they can weave the whole madalyne pryor/nathan christopher summers/technovirus/send him into the future deal.

ok im stretching it pretty thin. real thin, actually.

I dunno. If they start messing with timelines then it will completely confuse the audience. hell it does for some die hard comic fans.

AOA could be pulled off as a completely seperate trilogy from the actual X universe or marvel universe. AOA did include the fantastic four, Iron Man, and some of the avengers.

AOA could be pulled off for people like us perhaps...but I will refer you to "Mortal Kombat: Annhilation". I use that movie as a reference as what not to do when making a movie. they tried to incorporate as much as they could from MK2 &3 and then pow the movie sucked because they tried to put a little too much in there. Sometimes less is more, but I get what you're saying.

Oh, I know an AOA movie or trilogy would be a huge gamble. Perhaps they can pull it off after everyone feels a little tired of the same characters being depicted.

I never understood all those verticle and horizontal lines Liefeld incorporated. I was more of a Jim Lee fan. Similar styles I suppose.
