Nicolas Cage was just one of the numerous actors rumored to be up for a role in The Expendables 3, although the actor himself said it was 'unlikely' that he would star in the sequel back in June. Today, we have word that Kelsey Grammer is closing a deal to take over Nicolas Cage's role in the action sequel.

If his deal is finalized, Kelsey Grammer will portray an ex-mercenary named Bonaparte, who teams up with Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and the rest of his highly-trained crew on their latest mission. He joins returning stars Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Jet Li and Terry Crews, along with franchise newcomers Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson.

Patrick Hughes is directing from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and Richard Wenk. Production is currently under way in Belgrade, Sofia, Bulgaria.

Kelsey Grammer will next be seen in Transformers: Age of Extinction, arriving in theaters June 27, 2014. The actor also signed on to star in an untitled FX comedy series alongside Martin Lawrence.

The Expendables 3 comes to theaters August 15th, 2014 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey. The film is directed by Patrick Hughes.

This sounds like it could be the shittiest movie in the world and it will still be fucking awesome.

So they're now in full Guns and Roses syndrome where they know the franchise is big therefore they must add at least ten thousand more pieces to the band.
