Ron Howard's RUSH

Completely underwhelmed. Cinematography was a let down, and the first half of the movie was pretty slow and not well developed. I realize that the racing scenes were never going to be the focal point and super detailed, but a lot better job could have been done with what was there.
Maybe my expectations were just too high. Burhl and Hemsworth were great, though.

I seent it today. As a car movie, not amazing, but I wouldnt sweat to watch it again. As a story between two rivals, pretty damn good. I think Ron Howard should have spent more time watching LeMans to try to figure out how he was going to shoot 1970s racing action, but other than that, I was disappointed that there were only about 17 people in the theater.

There weren't a ton of people in the theater I went to either, but on the bright side, all of the non-car people I know that have seen it have been blown away.

I'm a car person and I was blown away by it.
Sounds to me like you would've rather just watched a Formula 1 race. Or a documentary on the '76 season

It was spectacular. Easily the best "car movie" ever made in regards to storyline, cadence, and dialog. Face it, today's movies are made with CGI (which I hate btw) so there will never EVER be scenes filmed like those in Le Mans.

And theatrically, the first half was a mess. The second half of the movie more than made up for it, but the storyline helped with that as well.Last edited by Slowhand; 09-30-2013, 10:51 PM.

The problem wasn't quantity of racing footage or scene selection or the off-track plot tacking precedence over the racing, it was the fact that what racing there was just wasn't particularly well done; reminded me a lot of Driven, and that's not intended to be hyperbolic or incendiary. Ron Howard and his DPs have done some really great work in the past, and this one just didn't quite hit the same note for me.

Because that wasn't an important part to the movie

And have too much fucking CGI.
