It was OK for an action moive. Some of the CGI was pretty bad. I'd give it a 3/10.

One other fact that I also liked alot, one of the main characters in the movie was an injured veteran who lost both legs. He had a very prominent role in the movie, and was a subtle tribute to all our injured vets.

Overall, the movie was better than I expected. If you go into it thinking that it's going to be a deep plot driven drama fest, then you'll be highly disappointed. If you are looking for some good action, good special effects, and a heart-felt salute to our armed forces, then I think you'll enjoy this flick. At least I did.
Thanks for the input, ill have to catch it during matinee hours.

I also take input from my peers, like this site.

Sounds like a matinee movie, rather than a prime time movie, though.

I can't believe people are paying money to see this movie. It looks like the biggest piece of crap since Skyline.

Honestly, it's not that bad. I had serious doubts myself, but it ended up being much better than expected. The trailers make it look worse than it is.

I havent seen it yet, but I have heard the same thing. I think saying it was based off the board game was a terrible marketing idea. Made people leary of it right off the bat

Honestly the only parts of the movie that even remotely had anything to do with the board game was that there was a battleship in the movie, the characters used a "grid" system to locate the aliens since they had radar blocking tech, and that the aliens missiles were shaped like the pegs in the games. Other than that, it was fairly original.

Nope, he's the main characters brother, and the commander of one of the destroyers. He plays a very straight laced career navy type who is trying to get his wilder younger brother to quit being a jackass and take on some responsibility.

Saw it last night and I was very surprised by this movie. It had very little references to the board game. I had the whole theatre to myself and almost shouted "america, fuck yeah!" when it got really good. I like how they paid resepect to war vets in this movie.

Matinee tickets are pretty cheap during the week.

That's pretty much how I felt as well... thought it was decent.

It was a decent movie. It was worth the matinee price I paid. The very end of the movie (post battle) felt like a cliff jump. Don't they realize they just saved the world from an alien takeover?? Other than that, it was ok. 6.0/10
