Solid idea. And lmao at anyone who thinks they are going to dennys. I doubt he would shoot you on the spot because he would not want the attention drawn to his location but I suspect that if you even peeked in a window you would be in for it. Some looter that has no clue that anyone is even in the house is in for it.

I have been watching it and my favorite by far was the old lady that started off talking about how liberal she is and then when the expert said she had a pretty good deal going but needed to get weapons that she fealt comfortable with. Her response was they will rely on the community and there would be no use of weapons and that the community would instead meet at townhall meetings and trade ideas.

My wife, who tries to remain a liberal being married to me, even started laughing saying that old lady would be the first to go if SHTF.

I will say though, as good of ideas as these people have, they are bat shit crazy. Im sure Ill regret thinking that one day but WOW!

I've only watched one episode and some of them are sensible, some seem mildly retarded. Not because of what they are doing but because they don't think it through very well.

I will say, my wife is buying off on this a little now so I get to do some stuff now too. Yay.

She cracked me the hell up. Why did she have a bug out vehicle parked across town instead of close by? My first thought was if everyone ran out of gas why would they just leave her truck, which looked abandoned, alone?

Yeah my GF wants to do some shopping this weekend for some essentials and maybe a firearm of her own! I told her not to worry about it because if the zombies come I'll just trip her and run.

Nothing wrong with being prepared for whatever may come along. It is all good for natural disasters too. I just get a kick out of people who say they getting ready for something stupid, like the Mayan 2012 thing or a fucking solar flare/EMP from the sun. That's just a load of bullshit.

I totally agree and after all talking about it with her we really don't have anything for supplies or tools if there was anykind of SHTF issue. Now that I have started a family i think I need to be prepared a little better to take care of them should the need arise.

She also said she worked out 6 days a week, and that she had a boyfriend. Pure comedy gold right there.

Did you see the way she walked? Or the fact that her mouth opened up extra wide when she was talking? The producers are mocking these people, and they're too stupid to see it.

The guy in Floresville seemed to be the only intelligent participant who had a solid plan and some decent back-up. I loved his alternator wind mills and his methane capturing system. But they screwed him from the start by showing his home defense test was firing .22 at his steel compound. Ah well, it's all about entertainment.

I also think there is some underlying satire in the show.
"When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler

Exactly, this is just another show that is mimicking the whole redneck/backwoods/cajun/hillbilly/stumpfucker trend that is infecting the History/Discovery/NatGeo/Animal Planet Channels.

That actually happened before. Over the year back when one of the only electronic things in widespread operation was the telegraph system (i.e. Morse code) a series of solar events knocked out or in some way affected Telegraph systems around the world. Now the telegraph is one of the simplest electronic gizmos on the planet. If a solar event did that imagine what they'd do to most any non-hardened electronic units today. They do occasionally get solar storms that cause comms issues or require planes to be rerouted along with other stuff but so far nothing big enough to causes widespread problems. But I wouldn't place it into the "impossible" category by any means.

On the old Liberal lady.........that "community" of theirs would last long enough for a well armed group of thugs to come though and rape and pillage the place. Then you are no shit in a end of the world scenario. The bushy hair hippy dude was funny as hell. Yeah it'll work just like he said except they kill everyone there and take what they want. Idiots. Without a way to resist and level the playing field with larger groups or simply physically larger individuals (i.e. firearms) might makes right and they will kill you to get what they want.

I noticed that too, I have 2 recorded that I need to watch. When talking with the wife, I simply explained...

                            1. Nothing wrong with being prepared. Even if I don't agree with what they are thinking, the extent and if what they want to do is even all wrong. (i.e. that "girl" from Houston)

                            2. They are not hurting or interfering with a single person.

I quoted you, but my point is I hope that a lot of other people understand those two points and don't just dismiss the show because some maybe a little odd. Hell, that guy down by SA - seemed fairly intelligent to me..etc. I did laugh when shooting at the steel containers with a 22 though, on the reinforced corner.

Haha yeah I've been in and around Conex boxes for years now and I wouldn't depend on them to protect me from anyone armed with any decent firepower past handguns and even that's pushing it.

Last nights episode was ok. The hippies in the north east need a dose of reality. Oh we don't need guns to protect ourselves.........we'll slit their throats in their sleep.

Any armed thugs coming along aren't going to come in for tea and crumpets and stay the night. They're going to kill everyone there rape the women (well maybe not there lol) take what they want then either settle in there themselves or move on.

I mean there are going to be good people out there but you need to be prepared to deal with the people that aren't.

The guy that blew half his thumb off had me laughing too. "My hand went infront of the barrel and it misfired........." Uh huh. My guess finger on trigger during a reload or something and bang bye bye middle joint of thumb.

I never said it was impossible. It is possible that we will be invaded by aliens at some point, even Stephen Hawking has made the case that it is possible and would be disastrous for us. The question is, is it likely enough to make specific plans for the event? Not at all
