They've only gone through one season and each episode gets better and better. The next mini-season will be a prequel because the actor who plays Spartacus has cancer. It was treated and he thought everything was fine, but it came back so he's leaving for good to get treatment. They're currently looking for a replacement for him to continue the series. WELSH-born Australian actor and Spartacus: Blood And Sand star Andy Whitfield has returned to Sydney as he attempts to battle a second round of cancer.
After recently announcing the recurrence of the non-Hodgkins lymphoma he was diagnosed with in February and subsequently quitting the TV action series that propelled him to stardom in the US, the one-time engineer and father-of-two has been seen around town looking frail.
"He did not look well," a spy told Confidential.
Whitfield, 36, also appeared "sick" while walking into the Oscar Oscar Salon in Paddington this week, however, the hairdressers refused to comment when contacted yesterday.
He is believed to be undergoing a second stage of chemotherapy following three months of treatment earlier this year in New Zealand where Spartacus is filmed. He went into remission afterwards but in September confirmed the cancer was back.
In a statement two months ago he said: "It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey." The actor, who married wife Vashti in 1999, could not be contacted yesterday and his Australian management firm, RGM, did not return our calls.
Spartacus producers are currently searching for an actor to replace Whitfield and, according to Deadline Hollywood, it is down to three finalists - Stephen Amell, Aiden Turner and Australian Liam McIntyre, who appeared in Pacific.Comment

Easily one of the best shows I've seen. Ultra violent and naked chicks in nearly every episode. Killer show. Been watching the reruns this last week from season 1 getting ready for the prequel. I was wondering where they were going to go this year after the way season 1 ended last year.

Thanks for the info on the cancer. I was wondering why I have waiting over a year for the show to come back on. I was so hoping that is was going to continue from where it left off. The last episode from season one was the shit.
I think it was called KILL THEM ALL.
I did hate the fact the blonde chick got away. Loved how the wife of Spartacus friend got revenge on the boy. That season went out with a bang.Comment
