Anyone seen it? I just got home from seeing it with my wife and we both agree that it was pretty good. It did drag in some places, but the action was just enough to keep you from getting bored. The story kept you wondering and at the same time gave you just enough information so that you were getting what was going on. By the end of it I had an "ahh ha" moment when it all made sense and then it played out just as I had imagined.

Also, there were several soft sex scenes with the tatted girl... and one rape scene that was uncomfortable, but it did show how much of a bad ass the female character was (and physcotic).

Anyways, discuss if you want.

I knew it had been promoted and knew it was coming, but I haven't kept up with movies coming out. Haven't been watching many commercials lately.

I watched some interviews with Rooney Mara after posting this last night. It's amazing that she was able to pull this character off so well IMO. She seems like a ditz. Much more to my surprise, she's American and not European. Who would have thought we had this kind of talent here!

I'm also curious to see if they remake the others and keep the same characters.

Yeah, the story wasn't changed. I really liked this movie, and I'm pretty impressed with Rooney Mara.

You should stream it on Netflix. It's an excellent movie. Haven't seen the remake, but Noomi Rapace portrayal in the swede version is going to be hard to beat. And yes, the rape scenes are brutal.

Hooooly shit. GREAT film. Mysteries are probably my least favorite genre next to horror, but this was well played all around. Casting was superb, acting was Oscar worthy from several characters, the sound effects crew nailed everything, and Fincher was at his diabolical best, putting the characters through untold hell. The golf club reminded me of the baseball bat at the end of Panic Room. Brilliant.

Watched the sequel "The Girl who played with Fire" this weekend. Equally as good as the first and has some interesting plot reveals into Lisbeth's past, namely her father. And a nice arc on just how deeply entwined Nils Bjurman (her guardian) is in the overall story. And there's a nice but brief scene of Lisbeth doing some serious muff diving.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets nest is in the queue for next weekend. These are rare films where you take no issue reading 2+ hours of subtitles. Hollywood needs take out a pen and paper. The European film community knows how to make a very engaging and entertaining feature length film using original concepts and little to no CGI. And atmospheric tension provided mainly by excellent choices in location shooting and timing.
