  • Church of Misery - Houses of the Unholy

I'll start off my saying most people won't like this music. I don't listen to it all the time but sometimes when you're in the mood it's great. I'm just making this post because I'm awake and it's early and I'm bored.

Church of Misery is a Japanese sludgy doom band. A majority of their music surrounds criminals, serial killers, and generally dark shit. Their 2009 album, Houses of the Unholy, is a collection of songs that each focus on a specific killer and their crimes. As I said earlier, you have to be in the right mood for it.

    Tracklisting and "Influences"
    1. El Padrino Adolfo de Jesus Constanzo

    2. Shotgun Boogie James Oliver Huberty (San Ysidro McDonald's massacre)

    3. The Gray Man

    4. Blood Sucking Freak Richard Trenton Chase

    5. Master Heartache (Sir Lord Baltimore cover)

    6. Born to Raise Hell

Richard Speck murdered 8 nursing students one night in 1966. The film Naked Massacre is based on his crime. link

The part with Albert Fish talking about cooking the meat was in another song, but I can't remember what band it was. This is going to bother me now, shit.

edit: found it. Number twelve looks like you, song was Grace Budd,

i took her to an empty house in westchester i had already picked up.
when we got there i told her to wait outside, pick wild flowers.
i went upstairs and stripped all of my clothes off.
i knew if i did not i would get her blood on them.
when all was ready i went to the window and called her.
then i hid in the closet until she was in the room.
she saw me all naked and began to cry and tried to run downstairs.
i grabbed her and she said she would tell her mama.
    first i stripped her naked.
how she did kick bite and scratch.
    i choked her to death.
then i cut her into small peices so i could take my meat to my room, cook
    and eat it.
sweet and tender her ass roasted in the oven
it took me nine days to eat her entire body.
    i did not fuck her.
though i could have as i wished.
    she died a virgin

Their split with Acrimony was good. Not sure what happened to that album, but I need to get it again. That's all I've heard of them though -- until I check these tracks out later.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Master of Brutality (2001) was the first I heard of them. Most of those songs are about serial killers too. The title track was about John Wayne Gacy. They did a pretty cool cover of Blue Oyster Cult
