  • Finally jumped onto the 3d bandwagon, what are some good Blurays?

I finally upgraded my bedroom/theater TV from an old 40" pre Bravia Sony to a new Samsung 46". Suprisingly it's physically shorter and only about an inch wider but with 6" more screen size. Picture quality is great and the demos I've downloaded on the PS network are cool.

Just wondering if there are any standout movies available? Thor comes out Tuesday and the Transformers trilogy in a few weeks.

Can't offer much as far as movies go, but if you're a gamer, Killzone 3 looks really good in 3d.

Certain games are cool... I heard call of duty is awesome. Most 3D movies out right now are re-done regular movies. They don't look very cool. Look for IMAX 3D movies and try to find a copy of Avatar... Too bad panasonic owns the rights to the movie...

I love my 60" sharp... 3D is the shit.

I think Avatar in 3d comes out on bluray this holiday season. Honestly if they rereleased it in theaters I'd go see it again.

I started playing with the apps on the TV and found one that has tons of free 3d content you can stream. The video looks cleaner than what I'm used to seeing in theaters. It seems like in theaters 3D is always slightly out of focus, on my set there are portions of the screen in the middle ground that look fuzzy but the front and farthest back look like regular 1080p video. It still looks fake and I haven't jumped from anything flying off the screen but I'd say it very accurately recreates what you'd see in a theater.

Playing Resistance 3 is pretty good but I get dizzy after half an hour or so. I wouldn't pay extra for the functionality at this point, I basically paid $250 more for a 3D TV that's also 240hz and has built in wifi with all of Samsung's apps. The 3d was a bonus I guess.

I am optimistic that they will come out with a technology that you do not need glasses for soon.

It would only make sense, especially since now there's the Nintendo 3DS, and 3D phones. I imagine it's only a matter of time until that happens.

                      passive 3d > active 3d

I'm assuming that glass vs. glassless? Who the hell would want to wear glasses the entire duration of a movie or a long game session?
