This movie is so much better than the new ones. Michael Keaton was made for the role. The amount of A listers in this movie that I didn't yet know when I was a kid is staggering. Tim Burton was perfect for directing one of the darker super heros, also. I wouldn't say Nicholsons take on The Joker was better than Ledgers in the new series, but he plays to his crazy strengths. This movie is awesome, and fun, something the newer ones seem to lack, imo.

Nicholson stole the show on the first one.
I don't know, man, Keaton is pretty brilliant! Where Nicholson went over the top, Keaton went subtle, but you could still see the huge range of his duality pulling at him, without much irony or camera winking. I just picked this up on Bluray and think I like it much more now than I did as a kid, mostly due to being able to appriciate the cast and what each of them brings to the table. Basinger still screams too fucking much, though.

Says a lot about the movie's quality from 1989 to now. It was something I'd never experienced before. I heard some people complaining that it was too dark at the time, but it really set the mood perfectly for both Gotham and the characters.

Exactly, and if I recall correctly, it was one of Burtons first films, and it happened to play to all of his strengths. I saw it in the theater, and liked it alright, but I was never into comics until recently so at that age I didn't get how much they accomplished with it. You can still see a few pretty bad CGI bits, but hell, it just gives it character to me. The backdrops that aren't even acknowledged most of the time are art deco madness out of a nightmare, and I think that is one of the things that this movie really shines over the newer ones with.

If you like Batman in more of a fantasy world of Gotham then the old ones are great. I definitely like Batman and Batman Returns, and I think Nolan tried to go that way a bit with Begins but The Dark Knight is definitely grounded in reality more than the others. I really liked the Dark Knight and think its a great movie but I liked Begins more. I like a little bit of fantasy being involved."Any dog under 50lbs is a cat and cats are pointless." - Ron Swanson

I now do what other people only dream. I make art until someone dies. See? I am the world's first fully functioning homicidal artist.Originally posted by talismanI wonder if there will be a new character that specializes in bjj and passive agressive comebacks?Originally posted by AdamLXIf there was, I wouldn't pick it because it would probably just keep leaving the game and then coming back like nothing happened.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyBecause fuck you, that's whyOriginally posted by 80coupenice dick, Idrivea4bangerOriginally posted by Rick Modena......and idrivea4banger is a real person.Originally posted by JesterMan ive always wanted to smoke a bowl with you.
