Not really true at all. She has one song that's clearly modeled after Madonna's song, but she planned it that way and got Madonna's blessing. Other than that, she's definitely unique. And by unique, I mean totally ridiculous. She surely gets inspiration from other people like Madonna, but she's a different bird. I can't believe I'm defending her, because I had zero appreciation for her and paid no attention until after the Howard Stern appearance recently. Her music isn't my type, but she definitely is like no one else out there.

i listened to her on stern as well...he was lobbing stuff, i guess to keep from pissing her off, but it was a decent interview.

when you say that she has one song, i'm assuming it's the "born this way" song...it's VERY similar to "express yourself", and it's even about the same thing. i've never heard that she got madonna's blessing. in fact, i remember hearing that madonna had an issue with it, though i don't remember for sure.

now, the rest of the stuff that she does is very similar to madonna...the way she acts, what she says, what she wears, etc. i've seen pics of her with those boob cones, like madonna wore, she dressed up like the itallian guy...madonna did that too...she even tried to kiss brittany spears on stage, which madonna obviously did.

anyway, gaga's music is really geared towards 12 year old girls, from what i can tell...i haven't heard anything from her that i would want to listen to again.

She was in drag the whole night, not just in dress, but also in character. It was all about promoting the whole gay/lesbian/transgender rights thing.

Beyond boob cones, she's worn some costumes that Madonna would never dream of. And as iconic as Madonna is (flame suit on), I think Gaga has more talent, and will eventually be a bigger star. You heard it hear first! Lol

You can't do everything for the first time, as it's almost all been done. I think she has obvious influence from Madonna, but she's done a pretty good job (IMO) of taking it further and being unique.

btw, i'm no madonna fan, but i do appreciate originality...i just think that gaga copies madonna and the rest of it is just shock value stuff (ie; meat suit). i'm not going to argue who has more talent, and i'm sure that she'll be the biggest thing since sliced bread, but there's a fine line between being influenced by someone and copying someone...in my opinion, gaga is doing the latter. obviously it's just my opinion, but one that quite a few people seem to share. my guess is that madonna doesn't care, as she's not active in the industry anymore, and she's too busy playing around in europe and adopting foreign children.

The more I see Lady Gaga, the more badass I realize she is. I don't listen to her stuff on the radio, but she does put on a heck of a performance. She has a lot of talent, and you can tell she puts everything she's got into her work. I thought she did a good job of staying in character all night. And yes, she did look like the karate kid.

I am not really a fan of her or her music but I came away from the Stern interview and impromtu performance with a lot of respect for her talent. She does have a great voice and can play instruments unlike someone like Spears with her stupid catchy auto tuned songs. I dont think she would have been as popular if her didnt have smokin bod and dancing ability. Same with Aguilera... she can belt out the tunes, can dance and had that take it or leave it attitude like Gaga and was not on a pathetic "No Sex Till Marriage" soapbox fail.

Never really thought about her like that. You pretty much hit the nail on the head though. Soon she'll move to Europe and have an english accent after a couple of months.
