Saw this movie on Friday and was extremely disappointed. The Mustang was on the screen for less than five minutes, and was having trouble getting away from a Chrysler 300c Not a good movie at all. More of a arthouse flick feel to it and the action was very limited. Would not recommend.

Really? That's disappointing. It's getting pretty great reviews.

I can see why critics might like it, just wasn't at all what the previews made it out to be. The story is very slow paced and deliberate. There is alot of silence and the characters staring at each other. The driving scenes are mediocre, never really get that impression of speed and the main character is said to be an amazing driver, but that just never really translates on the screen. If you go into this movie expecting high speed chases, elaborate car stunts, terrific crashes, etc. Then you will be disappointed. The movie is more a character driven drama that explores the psyche of the "driver".
Wasn't what I was expecting, but I had heard about the book from someone(eric maybe or some other fellow lit nerd) already so I knew it wasn't going to be an all out car movie. Wasn't bad per say just could have been written much better imo. Had kind of a Cohen brothers feel to it. I'd still recommend it on DVD or even theater depending on the person, definitely not a car movie though.

Yeah, it had a "No Country for Old Men" kinda feel to it.
Should've known from the opening credits being in hot pink script that this movie wasn't going to be what I expected.
freaking boring as heck saw people get out of the audience and leave cuz they were dumb enough to take their 7-8 year old kids and they got freaked out.
Completely disappointed also. Not at all what I was expecting. I was extremely excited because the previews made me believe first and foremost it was a car movie. I was expecting at least a few car chase scenes. As was said above the chase scene with the 5.0 sucked. The nearly completely missing dialogue the first 15min of the movie and at other times throughout had me really scratching my head. The over the top bloody violence didn't really fit in either.

people who take their children to R rated movies are terrible parents.
Everyone that hates it so far is apparently looking for a Fast and Furious remake. I guess that's what the trailer makes you think it is.
The people that like it say it is cerebral, with a lot of tension and buildup. That sounds like my kind of movie, one that Hollywood has pretty much refused to make in the last ten years.
When the government pays, the government controls.
Why am I not surprised everyone on here hated it? lolz It was a good, very intentionally, slow paced movie. With some extremely violent shit once it gets going halfway through. I liked it. Very 80s feel to it for me, especially with the hot pink cursive titles and music selection. If you go to movies just to watch shit explode, stay far far away from this. The marketing was a bit misleading, but that's true with about 90% of the movies I see these days. The 5.0 vs the 300 had a brief but obvious Bullitt feel to it to me. It would have been cool if they would have gotten a new Charger, but they probably didn't want the comparison to be that black and white. At least the 300 looked like it was a debadged SRT8. Almost everything about cars is in the background, but if you pay attention, there is a LOT of back ground.
