A friend of mine showed this to me and told me it was on the radio now, pretty decent. Lyrics are a little dark and the sound is better than what I would expect for pop music. Fucking skinny jean wearing pricks in the video though.

Correct. To add to that, "Pumped up kicks" basically means the kids with the nicer shoes. See, most schools these days have dress codes and/or uniforms. Most of the time, the only distinguishing factor (aesthetically) is their shoes. You better believe they use what they can to set judgment.
