Just a heads up that The Car Show premiers tomorrow on the Speed Channel at 9pm Central. It stars Adam Carolla and has Matt Farrah from The Smoking Tire.

It looks like a promising alternative to Top Gear USA (which could have had Carolla).

It was bad and I like Carolla and Farrah. I'm sure it will get better, but that first episode was almost painfull to watch.

First episodes for car shows almost always seem pitiful. However there were several points that give me hope it will get better. It seems to me that the truly bad sections of the show are in the studio. It doesn't help that they look kinda stupid around that desk. I think it worked a little better when they were all facing each other. The interaction seemed a bit more natural. I think they need to have their Zero to 60 segment in that sitting area. That segment should work better in the future. However I'm trying to figure out exactly what John Salley is there for? I suppose he is to be their Capt. Slow. IMO he brought nothing to the table. Carolla and Farah both did a decent job on the first time out but I think Dan Neil will take some getting used to.

But it wasn't all bad. The Lemon's racing segment was pretty good and I got a good chuckle out of the Rolls Royce 17 mile segment. Though Farah's Mohave Mile segment was a little flat. He actually raced a Cessna? Come on guys, that's been done over and over again, but the other shows use jet fighters. I thought Farah's presentation was good, I just thought the whole thing was a bit that made no sense.

The Car Show Game Show bit looks a little promising. It was funny to see Neil have his ass handed to him by just some guy.

There is more stuff I liked and disliked about the show, but I can't remember it all. However this was vastly superior to Top Gear USA's first episode. I think they are off to a decent start. I think the personal chemistry is there between Farah, Carolla, and Niel. Get rid of Salley and call it a day...

I agree with most of your opinions, it as pretty painful to watch at times, I wanted it to be good but it wasn't. Will watch again next week and go from there.

Didn't get to finish it, maybe tonight, but my initial thought was that Carolla was extremely uncomfortable. It seemed like a live show based on his drawn-out cadence in the opening, which I think may be due to the fact that he's a shoot-from-the-hip talker, not a teleprompter kind of guy.

That said, I like Carolla, and I hope it gets better.

Missed it, but I plan on giving it a shot and I'm going to go in with very low expectations and try not to compare it to Top Gear.

I was really partial to the Lemons segment and it turned out horrible IMO. It could have been so much better. Less of the in-studio BS and more time reviewing a car or doing something cool in the field with someone who knows WTF they are doing when it come to directing/editing. For crying out loud they didn't even purchase or build their lemons car and they totally missed some of the best moments at the track with the BS inspection and racing penalties... And a fucking GT3 vs a shit plane? Give me a break. If their going to be gay and race a car against a plane they could have at least had an ME-209 or a Spitfire show up and do something actually cool.
