  • Legit scary movies???

Any suggestions? Seems like most "scary" movies today just have loud noises at random, but predictable times. I will admit that the paranormal activity movies creeped me out at times, but I'm thinking more along the lines of The Excorcist scary. Like legitimately scary movies that I will most likely have a nightmare or two about. Somebody told me that Pet Cemetary is a pretty good one.

It's pretty scary, but nothing like the Stephen King book. An old one that freaked me out was "The Sentinel" from about 1977. It takes place in an apartment building. I think it had Chris Sarandon and Burgess Meredith. It's not too dated, with very few (if any) special effects. It's an odd/weird flick.

        The Shining
        The Exorcist

Both of those still give me the heebee jeebees.

That's really about the only two that have effectively managed to scare me.

Blair Witch Project creeps me out, but doesn't necessarily scare me.

Shindler's List, The Killing Fields and Hotel Rwanda were all pretty good and should haunt you. History > fiction when it comes to horror. Not really the genre you are asking about but what they portray is truly horrifying.

            Poltergeist

The Thing was on last night. The special effects aren't special but still a damn good movie.

I have a french horror film called "Frontiers" its subtitle'd. That movie was fucked up, no effect's just flat out WTF!?! It's stuff that really could happen. Almost like the french's version of chainsaw massacre/ hostel.

I watched The Thing a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed it. It's on Netflix instant now. I saw Poltergeist a couple of months ago and it didn't really do anything for me.

Really, The Exorcist 3? The second one was so bad that I didn't bother watching the third. I don't remember "The Beginning" being very scary at all either. Maybe I'll give it another shot.
