They could ease up on him talking about fucking guys. I still like his character. You know he is a badass and they haven't even shown him fight once.

Sometimes when you have an integral character, you have to establish what he's about right of the bat so people are interested. So in the show, he carries himself really well, you find out he likes puss and butts(bisexual porn title name?), and he's a badass (when he stabbed that dudes hand into the table).

Well in the books they never really overtly come out and say anyone is a cock gobbler. Renly is a great example, in the books there are some rumours and his group of guards wear a rainbow cloak, he is described as dressing exceptionally well and he has his fag hag (Brienne of Tarth) but there is nothing obvious.

I just thought they could have done a much better job with making Oberyn a bad ass in the show. They seem to be minimizing the Dorne storyline so maybe that is why.

They did the same thing for The Mountain. Killing slaves/criminals like pigs?

even the way they filmed him next to queen twatwaffle made it look weird.

No wonder he's never been beaten if he only fights unarmed goat farmers.

(There were more stories about The Mountain laying waste to the countryside that could have been shown to set him up, but like you I know the book storyline and i'm just gonna sit back an watch)

They can't because it is a chain of events that matters a lot later. One of the main themes of the show is that magic comes back into the world with the dragons and the old spells that the wizards cast as half assed magic tricks are now actually working as they have in the past. They have done a very poor job of communicating this in the show, with the most obvious moment being when Thoris of Mir saying that he can raise Beric Dondarrion from the dead with a spell that used to not do a thing. In the books this is conveyed a number of times in similar instances.

Something happens to the Mountain and it relates to that theme.

Wow, talk about climatic. Nothing like making you wait until the very last second of the episode. I was sure that the Mountain was gonna die and imp would be vindicated etc. But holy shit!

I wish they would have given us a scene of the two Stark girls reuniting though.

I started watching this last week and immediately got hooked. I'm on S3E2 now. The way these characters talk down to each other fucking kills me. It's like a medieval version of this site in 2004.

There is so much to it with so many characters I know I'm getting a few things mixed up, but already love it enough to know I'll be rewatching the entire thing soon to solidify all the plot points. I haven't got hooked like this since the first eps of Californication and Justified. I've read up to page 4 or 5 of this thread but will save the rest until I'm caught up completely.

The battle in the bay at the end of S2 was bad fucking ass. I've seen big budget movies done worse. I'm normally not much of a fan of the fantasy genre; I haven't even seen the LOTR Trilogy because I just can't get into it, but everything about this show is great. Dialogue, cinematography and backdrops, sex, violence, minor characters that are more memorable than some big budget movies starring roles, treachery, what's not to like? Would be cool if they threw some live style medieval music in there more.
