They have been out for a while now. They are $20 and $10 vs $15 and $5. I don't know if you can just upgrade. I've got mine coming in the mail, but I upgraded to a multi room dvr.

Can you use an external hd w/ the verizon boxes? I've been seeing 2TB drives for $99 lately, I would think that would be a better option if they were compatible.

Depending on the model you have, yes. The QIP7000 series will support an external eSATA drive. Check their website, or look at the back of your receiver, it should have an external drive port if it supports it.

Found out yesterday you have to get on the waiting list online. The guy says it's in the test phase. Also it will cost $40 to upgrade as well.

Okay so if you order this online it's $40. If you go to the Verizon store it's free. I also got 3 months free rental as well.

I got my new boxes the other day, and they weren't the new boxes. I called up, and the lady said you have to place te order online and get on the waiting list. Which is a lie. I know two ppl that have had the new boxes since early Feb, and neither ordered online. Don't know why they are saying this now.....
