Help me learn about android...

Ok, I may sound like a dumbass but I know nothing about these phones or the OS. Been an iPhone user since they came out...

1. Is there an Android equivalent to jailbreaking an iPhone? (ie free apps etc?)

2. Is the tethering feature on some of the phones free? Or do you have to pay to use the feature?

3. Whats a good phone to get now days? I've heard alot about the Evo 4g or something like that....

1 Yes, it's called rooting.

2 Depends on the carrier but generally, yes as long as it's not abused.

3 What carrier are you with?

You may want to wait a month or two... HTC is about to release the EVO 3D which will have a dual core processor. If you don't need the brand spanking new tech, it should also cut the price of the current EVO in half.

HTC make bar none the best quality phones.

Motorola is getting better but its bootloader is locked so no true overclocking.

Samsung has great phones too, but feel cheap compared to the other two brands.
