  • Any advice from someone who went from an iphone to an android phone?

As a former at&t employee I always had a Blackberry, iphone, android device, and recently windows mobile device. I would do trainings on all devices and troubleshoot them all the time but always found myself using my iphone 95% of the time. I just ported over to Sprint and got an HTC Evo 4G and my iphone is now dead. I have been playing with it all day and find myself saying this is freaking awesome about half the time and the other half of the time I start wigging out cause I want my freaking iphone back.

Any tips/advice? I feel like a heroin addict that was forced to take meth instead or something... lol. Help!

What in the world would you want your iphone back for? It does nothing the Evo can't do.

I guess the ease of use of the iphone was the most appealing to me. I'm sure I just need to spend some time customizing my home screens and navigating around the phone. Just little crap that bugs me like how I can't sync my info after loading stuff on the phone (disk drive mode) without going into the menu and changing it. Can't open multiple web pages at a time.. No letters on the side of the phonebook to skip to on your contacts... little crap like that.

I already rooted the phone and have been using the phone in usb and wifi tether mode. I am in 4G upstairs and 3G downstairs so upstairs when I tether it is pretty fast but downstairs it is pretty bad. The plan was to cancel the home internet and just tether the Evos (i got my wife one too) to the computers. The only thing that might kill that idea is the PS3... BlackOps doesn't like the ~1.8mb wifi tether to the Evo.

Is there a free hacked apps store like there was with jailbroken iphones?

            Dear iPhone,
Please stop spell checking all of my rude words into nice words. You piece of shut.

            Sincerely,
            Every iPhone User

The battery life seems to be really shitty although i'm sure the fact I have been messing with it non-stop doesn't help... still... that worries me.

Also, the fucking unlock/power button on the top is akward to press and I don't like how the screen locks so quickly... I wish it would just dim and not lock.

But, the screen is freaking beautiful! The camera rocks. The phone seems to be much more responsive than the iphone. And the sound quality is fan freaking tastic!

Its not even the ROM, it sounds like you want android to babysit you like Apple did and that wont happen. If you want something like iTunes then go back to the iphone, its that simple.

Why in the world would anyone want to fight with iTunes when its so much easier to drag and drop. Just create a file called "music" and another called "pics" on your SD card. Put all the music in music and all the pics in pics. That easy. Personally I have never like iTunes. Damn thing is the most annoying program I have ever used.

Day 2 and I am really starting to dig my Evo. I really need to get used to the on screen keyboard and the differences in the browser but I don't think it will take long to get used to those.

What ROM do you guys use/recommend? That was something I was going to dig into once I got used to the phone a bit. I'll tell you what, the sound quality on this thing is SOOOO much better than my iphone. Not sure if it was the iphone itself or at&t but wow, what a difference!

I'm not looking for something to "babysit" me, it's just completely different and I was looking for tips from people who have went from iphone to android. I used DoubleTwist which is a pretty kickass program and seamlessly pulled all my playlists directly off my iphone and put them on my evo. I love the intigration of facebook into my contacts.

"Dolphin Browser" allows multiple web tabs if you're still looking.
                        .

So does the stock android browser, lol. My phone book has letters on the side, they fade away when you scroll, it's the stock touch wiz one still, too.

I barely messed with the stock browser, before my friend told me to install the Dolphin browser. I haven't had any problems with it. My phonebook/contacts list has the fade away letters. I also have "gesture search" where you can draw the letters on the screen and spell out what you're looking for.

Yeah, I have dolphin, too, for when I don't want to view the mobile version of a page. You could just do the voice search, too. Just say something like "call john smith" when the mic is on.
